Dedicated Obama supporter here (from the beginning) - WOULD BE JUST FINE WITH HILLARY AS VP!!
Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 02:33 PM by Dawgs
Flame away, but I think of what it would have been like when you compare Gore/Lieberman to Bush/Cheney.

I don't want to take the chance that we will have another eight years of Bush incompetence.

Hillary is not my first choice, but if she's needed to win in January(I mean November :)), then I'm all for it.

34. I would worry about the vetting process. I wonder if they would
survive it:

www.americablog.coma:

This sounds pretty rigorous -- and the potential V.P. nominees have to comply.

Hillary always claims she's fully vetted, but that's not true. And, the vetting process includes the spouse.

Basically, this means Obama's vetting team would have access to all the Clinton's records -- all the stuff that hasn't become public. The Clintons would have to open up the library funders and foundation donors. They'd have to name everyone who has paid Bill Clinton to speak or do any other work. They'd investigate all of Bill's dealings with Ron Burkle, for example. And, for sure, they'd have to investigate a lot of other rumors that swirl about.

The Clintons can keep their own secrets when they run the show. But, this won't be their show. They won't have Howard Wolfson and his team stonewalling reporters who are asking prying questions.

If the Clintons want the V.P. job, they can't say no to any question asked. And, it's pretty clear that Jim Johnson knows what questions to ask. That seems like a risky proposition for the Clintons. Sure would be fun to be a fly on the wall during those interviews.

6. Agree.
The same people that are arguing against Hillary being VP are the same ones that argue with Hillary supporters about voting for McCain.

It makes no sense that you could be against one (if she is needed) and then argue for the other.

Hillary would not be my first choice. I like a few others.. like Webb, but would be fine with any Democrat if it helps get Obama elected.

24. I agree. I'm not saying she is NEEDED; I'm saying IF she is needed.
I'm not sure how you determine that, but we need to do whatever we can to win this time.

I, for one, don't want another war with Iran.

That's all I'm saying. I'm NOT saying she is needed; I'm just saying that IF she is needed I'd be okay with her as VP.

27. She's not needed to win. You are being manipulated by her mouthpieces...
If Hillary was on the ticket, not only would the GOPers never vote for her, but now a large number of Democrats (including African-Americans) won't vote for Obama if she is on the ticket.

Hillary on the ticket would be the best get-out-the-vote and register-to-vote drive the GOP could have ever designed. Rightwingers who could not be bothered before to either register to vote or show up on election day to vote would come down from the hills if it meant they could smack Hillary around in the voting-booth.

And they just might enjoy it so much, they might return on future elections to see if it's as much fun to smack other Democrats around in the voting booth, negatively impacting the Dems' chances in future elections.

35. You keep telling yourself that.
Yeah it's the "mouth pieces" that are saying that.

Take a walk outside of the cocoon of DU and the internet. I have spoken to many people that are democrats who supported Hillary that can't STAND Obama and the only way they will not stay at home is w/ Hillary on ticket. AND I would bet the same would have been the case if Hillary were at the top of the ticket and Obama being considered for VP.

33. Hillary has convinced me she is not ready for the Presidency.
I do not trust her temper, and feel she would make a terrible President. I find her very egocentric and self serving.

The many trials and tribulations Obama has endured has convinced me he has what it takes. I am impressed as to how he has endured the Media Microscope and the many slurs thrown at him in the Primary.

There are much better choices out there than Hillary Clinton.
