...SIMPLY FOR EXISTING! "Aren't you proud to be an American, son?" / "I didn't have much to do with it, my parent's fucked here" (the late great Bill Hicks). This bullshit obligation that you must be proud of America simply because it exists and hosted your birth isn't patriotism, it's nationalism. It's the same fawning worship of country that gave Obama crap for not wearing a flag pin. In the sane part of the Western world, a comment like that (or Rev. Wright's) wouldn't raise a damn eyebrow.

young people stop a war, African Americans allowed to go to a college with white people, the fall of the Berlin wall, the information age, mapping of the human genome. So unless you are about 6 years old i cannot understand that statement.
