Comparing the voting record of Sen. Obama, Sen. Clinton and Sen. McCain
Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 07:09 PM by Douglas Carpenter
Let me first make it ABSOLUTELY clear that I am NOT advocating an Obama/Clinton ticket. I'm not that fond of Sen. Clinton and I have some profound concerns regarding her foreign policy worldview. I also felt some of her actions in the past few weeks were appalling.

Nonetheless, there is no doubt that there is a very, very, very real possibility that she will be picked by Sen. Obama as the Vice Presidential nominee. Anyone who is closely following this matter knows that this is entirely possible.

Also, anyone who has read serious expert analysis of a possibility of this ticket knows that there are some very strong and impressive strategic arguments both for and against this idea -coming from independent and nonpartisan thinkers.

So let's just take a look at the voting record of Sen. Obama, Sen. Clinton and Sen. McCain.

All figures are interest group ratings from 2007, except when those figures were not available, in such cases I will post the ratings from 2006 or 2005-2006:

2. That is some really, really great information.
Thank you so much for putting that together! There absolutely destroys some of the outright myths that get repeated here over and over again.

You are wonderful.

3. Sobering.
And in spite of this, we will continue to see posts from educated DUers convinced that Clinton = McCain and besmirching her character with the most vile shit I've seen here in a long time. Granted, I'm not her biggest fan, but I respect her, and if anyone should be flailed on DU, it should be McCain along with all the other Bushites.

6. I certainly agree with that, however
I am just baffled over the Clinton-hatred on this forum.

Just makes you wonder . . . .

5. this is facinating
and clearly shows the Clinton-hatred is based on something other than issues.

The claim of course is that issues separate the two D's, it is clearly not. It is something else.

What could it be??????

hmmmmmmm

(btw - not a Hlllary supporter here - just an observer of the nuttiness of GD-P)

9. Probably the biggest problem was her Iraq War Resolution vote.
But she certainly wasn't the only one to vote that way at the time.

11. I agree - it is certainly one vote that I would find hard to forgive her for
as well as the others that cast their vote the same way.

Those D votes as much as anything are responsible for where we are today.

10. very interesting, eye opening
in really basic terms: Obama and Clinton give a shit about people and their welfare, the environment and even animals. McCain cares about his buddies and himself.

14. This needs to be repeated as often as possible...
2006 Senator McCain supported the interests of the Disabled American Veterans 20 percent in 2006.

Isn't Senator McCain a "Disabled American Veteran" himself? I'm certain I read that his injuries as a POW qualified him for disability status. For him to score this low on this issue is appalling.
