New Freeper Smear on Kerry Crewmate David Alston

Freepers are now perpetuating a smear that Rev. David Alston never served with John Kerry in Vietnam

Generally I'm against doing this as it gives your opponent more publicity than if you just let time fade things away...but not this time.

There's been a bunch of damage done by these Swiftboat Freepers and now they're ready to go for more. Not only to make Kerry look like a liar, but his crewmates, too...to further blur the truth from their slime. Someone's gotta stand up and expose these frauds.

We can prove where Rev. Alton was but where was Bush, Cheney and Rummy? Oh, I know, they had "other things to do." I suppose the 58,000 guys whose names are on the wall didn't have anything else to do.

See this article in todays online Nat. Review apparently based on contacting Short and Alston about when he was on board with Kerry.

Alston did serve with Kerry, but apparently only for a week. He was wounded along with the skipper Kerry replaced, and only returned shortly before Kerry left Vietnam.

They are dead wrong about Alston not having served under Kerry. On the other hand some of the things that Alston said about Kerry (and Kerry about Alston) were apparently based on what others had told them rather than personal observation of each other.

Byron York, National Review? His claim that Alston was out a month is based on the guesses and "understandings" of other people, not Alston.

Then he goes on to recite accusations based on the fact that pre-January 29, 1969 records about PCF-94 were put on Kerry's site before they realized he transferred to that boat later in the month. The records were taken down. But they're still making a stink about it.

Don't they have BETTER things to think and write about, like the Chimp's record of ruin?!!

He didn't claim to be on Kerry's boat the entire time Kerry was there, if that's what you mean by "all that time."

The thing is, in the absence of a lie, they're trying to discredit what he says about Kerry's leadership by arbitrarily deciding how long is long enough to form an opinion, or feel what he says he felt.

I don't know, but if I were in that situation for just one day, I'd remember it the rest of my life -- I'd remember my leader and how he reacted under attacks, how he responded to me afterwards, whether I trusted and admired him or not.

From reading that freeper thread, you'd think Kerry was making up the entire war in Vietnam, which never really happened (oh no wait, it really did happen, but only men who are now Bush supporters were there).

That photo with Alston in it belongs to PCF-94's bosun's mate Michael Medeiros, who also kept a personal log of every mission he went on in 1969, including the one for which Kerry earned the Silver Star. So now we have to include Medeiros in the vast left-wing conspiracy to make Kerry look like a war hero so that he could run for president against a party-boy chickenhawk 35 years later.

Of course, to people who still believe there are WMD's in Iraq, I guess hallucinating is a lifestyle.

This is backfiring big time. The media is getting wise to the puke smear campaign - Tweety, Carville and others have given the puke spinmeisters a royal spanking on prime time. SCDP needs to do their part with regard to this smear on Alston.
