2 new polls show NC within the Margin of error.
Bush 48%, Kerry 45% (Research 2000)
Bush 48%, Kerry 44% (LCV)

Bush, Kerry close in N.C., poll says

In what may be the closest presidential race in the state since 1992, Democrat John Kerry is within 3 percentage points of President Bush in a new poll.
Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney hold a lead of 48 percent to 45 percent over Kerry and his running mate, Sen. John Edwards, according to a poll conducted this week for The News & Observer, WRAL-TV and WUNC radio.

The poll, taken about two weeks after the Democratic National Convention, shows a slight gain of 2 percentage points for Kerry since the poll a month ago, when he trailed Bush by 5 points. The percentage of voters who say Edwards' presence on the ticket makes them more likely to vote for the Democrats also rose 2 points, to 27 percent.

The margin of error is 4 percentage points

Kerry, to show he is serious about competing here, plans to visit the Charlotte area Friday and discuss economic security, jobs and affordable health care, said campaign spokesman Ron Eckstein.

The LCV survey of 600 likely voters conducted by Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin & Associates (FMM&A) for LCV shows Democratic candidate Bowles holding a 44-37 percent lead over Republican Congressman Richard Burr with 16 percent undecided. Libertarian candidate Tom Bailey had three percent.

In the presidential contest, the Bush-Cheney ticket held a 48-44 percentage lead over the Kerry-Edwards ticket, a figure that falls within the poll’s margin of error.

2. Unreal

We had a thread about this last week talking about VA, NC and TN all in play, which is absolutely shocking.

Today I find out that the New Jersey polls suggest the McGreevy scandal hasn’t touched Kerry one bit and in fact the people of NJ actually are supporting that Governor MORE NOW…Probably a psychological reaction to “rooting for the underdog.”

Pat Buchanan said New Jersey was in play…I had to LMAO. Kerry is trouncing Bush in all the Blue States…while Bush is struggling mightily in his red-state strong hold. Kerry has decent leads in most of the battleground states.

Damn, I never thought NC would be in play. This is good news. Now Bush has to go on the defensive and win back his base, while Kerry can continue to win over the new swing voters. And the ad blackout isn't even over. Cheers to the Kerry campaign. :toast:

5. If we can make them spend money in NC
Then, I'd be a lot more confident.

maybe MoveOn can run come commercials there?

Or, is it all those New Englandahs moving down there? Next thing you know, those New Englandahs will start demanding things like good public schools...

6. We see plenty of Bush ads here in N.C.- hope to see more Move.on ads
I have only seen one move.on ad so far and that was several weeks ago here in N.C. I hope to see many more. There were lots of Kerry ads including the one featuring John Edwards. There has been a continuous bombardment of Bush ads for weeks here, including the latest creepy one with him and out-of-focus Laura where he exploits 911.

In my weekend rambles in N.C. I saw several new Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers and a yard sign.

7. excellent
<rubbing his hands together while he says that>

At least Bush is spending $$ in NC. That, in and of itself, is a victory for the good guys. When Edwards was first announced as VP, the corporate media all pointed to that 1 poll that showed Bush still 15 points ahead in NC... now how will they spin it?

9. Excellent! And remember--usually these polls only survey
"likely voters"--meaning people who are registered to vote and who have voted in the past. We don't know how many new voters we've got out there--that alone could smoke *'s ass! :bounce:

And on a personal note, I live in South Carolina and a lot of long-time, die-hard Repugs I know can't stand * and tell me that although they don't know if they can vote for Kerry (abortion issue is just huge with these folks), they know they can't for * either--a lot have mentioned just not voting at all!

10. that is the issue that keeps being brought up where I live as well
I think its silly to base your decision on ONE issue like that--it has NO bearing on anything IMO...I mean same as gay marriage which also pisses people off to NO end..why do people worry so much about other people and the way they live???

at any rate in our letters to the editor there is CONSTANT PROLIFERS stating Kerry is no good...whatever...BUT Kerry is winning here...

"A Democrat wins when people think"-Bill Clinton on TDS...and its so true!
