On the night that Obama has enough delegates to clinch the nomination of the Democratic Party, Hillary's defiant speech manages to steal a lot of the media coverage and rain on his parade.

This is stunning.

1. Media loves to drag things out...
and make everything seem like a big deal in order to get higher ratings.

2. Well, stunning is a pretty apt word, I'll give you that.
Not in a positive way, more like in a spectacle way.

7. The words "attention whore" and "drama queen" came to mind ... oops.. did I type that?
we need unity, so I'm sorry.

I'm open to being proven wrong, I WELCOME being proven wrong, but Hillary's spectacle tonight
was beyond disgusting, self-serving, and obnoxious, it was downright hypicritical. Why?

Because just a few weeks ago she said she'd "work her heart out for the Dem. nominee, whoever
that is" .. well folks tonight she made herself a liar.

and borrowed money. She doesn't have enough money to keep going for much longer, and her chances of winning the nomination now grow ever further and further, it can either end now or in denver but realize that obama will have his time in the sun, just a matter of when. The only thing left now is whether she'll be V.P. and that won't conversation last for five fucking months non-stop it'll be settled and the MSM will move on to their next flavor of the day, if for no other reason than to cater to America's attention span.

6. and the rest of the week it will be about 50 50 for her and obama.
She knew exactly what she was doing with that speech tonight, and it was a good one. She wanted to let obama know that she still had power and she controls the fate of bho if he wishes to be president.

12. See your statement pisses me off...
Much like the Clinton speech and the media have done is make this turn into Obama vs. Clinton. Presidency versus no Presidency.

And this is why I upgraded Obama's speech over everyone else.

This is about mobilizing the people, this is about uniting two groups for the same goal to oust John McCain take back the White House and provide significant social change.

Fuck the Clintons and ultimately Obama. Obama even said to fuck him, he knows it's not about him or her or McCain this is about us.

I hate this crap making this whole thing so important. I felt like Clinton really didn't care about me if she was looking to bring about change. She didn't care as she said about the American people because she would see this is not about politicking this is about unity and really bringing all of us in this nation who share the title of American on a United front and address the most fundamental issues. This not about race, religion, or sex. This is about a better life---one with energy alternatives, one with lower gas prices, one where people don't have to file bankruptcy to keep their homes, one without people losing jobs left and right because of globalization.

That's the focus. You think this was smart? This was detrimental to unifying the American people and us focusing on us and not on the 3rd term of Bush. To drag this out is turning this into a political nightmare and showing how unified the bloody Repubs are. Half of them didn't even like McCain and yet, they're all on board. We have two candidates when the delegates through our active particiipation chose and I don't care who was chosen. As long as we make the change.

This kind of crap is rift making.

On a night she could have given the most gracious, uniting and memorable speech of her political life, she chose instead to make an ass of herself - yet again.

Well, eventually she'll give that concession speech. It will be noted in a bottom-screen crawl on CNN: "Hillary Clinton, political has-been, finally faces reality. Too bad the world is no longer interested."

15. Me? Vitriolic?
Okay, yes, on occasion - like when an ego-maniacal loser thinks it appropriate to try to steal the limelight from her own party's newly elected presidential nominee, in order to get on stage once again and talk about herself, herself and herself.

Actually, it's fine by me. She can now make her not-so-famous concession speech in front of the eleven people who are still interested in hearing what she has to say.

30. The only good thing she had to say tonight ...
...was, inevitably, about herself.

It's just too bad what's-her-name will now go down as the worst sore loser in history. She was capable of so much more - too bad she didn't rise to the occasion.

Goodnight, emilyg :hi:
