What Is It About This Party
What is it about this party that invites people who put their own self interests above those of the Party itself?

You've traditionally had southern democrats who do everything possible to distance themselves from the national party.

You have Zell Miller, who is the keynote speaker at the Republican convention in 2004.

You have Joe Lieberman, who was the party's freakin' nominee for vice president eight years ago, bashing Democrats left and right and teaming up with McCain and endorsing him this year.

You have Hillary Clinton, who, on a night when the party makes history by nominating the first African American candidate, refuses to concede, even though there's no mathematical way she can win.

You have Al Gore, the most powerful Democrat not affiliated with either campaign, refusing to step in and take a stand and try to bring and end to this madness.

You have Howard Dean, the chairman of the DNC, who looks utterly clueless and impotent when it comes to trying to dealing with the primary process.

What the hell is wrong with this party? And people wonder why Democrats get laughed at in the media.

Republicans, say what you will about them, at least know how to be organized. And since a party is, for all intents and purposes, a political organization, an unorganized organization is a poor operating model.

If we're going to win this election, it's going to be on the strength of Barack Obama's spine. Same as it ever was with this party. Put forth a nominee and hope they can carry the weight of a fat, lazy, bickering mass of people who all want what he's got and can't stay in a straight line for more than five seconds.

Seriously. Obama better be as good as I think he is. He's going to need every ounce of strength to carry this bloated mess over the finish line come November.

the Republican party is the party of rich/scared white men, the women married to them, and minorities who want to be them.

The Democrats are the party of everyone else.

8. To fix the problems in future elections, maybe we should look at getting rid of
'percentage distribution' of delegates in the primaries. Electoral votes are not handed out in percentages, else certainly most of the map would be "purple," rather than blue and red. IMO, delegate awards should be done in the same fashion, if only to avoid the deep division that we have seen in this contest over the last few months.

One way or another, we have made American political history, but in our 'process' we have lost precious campaign time to the Republicans, who have had their 'unofficial nominee' to rally behind for a while now. We need to change that, so that future elections can be less encumbered by this type of infighting, so that we can concentrate on the 'real' opposition across the aisle.
