Joy! Joy! Fox "News" rant about Olbermann!
Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 07:51 AM by sampsonblk
My morning is now complete. The clowns at Fox just spent about five minutes complaining about Keith Olbermann!

The sports guy says basically that Olbermann is an activist for Democrats. You'd neer see anything like that at Fox, would you?

The bimbo says "He called me stupid! I'd like to know where he went to school... Where did he finish in his class?" Just speaking for myself, yeah she's quite stupid. Quite. In fact, if she'd quit making pro-GOP editorial statements and just read the news, at least she'd have a chance of hiding just how truly dumb she really is.

And that clown Doocy referred to NBC as the National Barack Channel. (Great!) He said Russert is now no more than Keith Olbermann's poodle. He says Olbermann shouldn't be considered a journalist because he is a liberal blogger. Interesting. What about Hannity campaigning for Bush on his radio show EVERY DAY? What about Bill O'Reilly!?

For the life of me, I can't imagine why so few in our party have seen fit to take on Fox News. Its so obvious to me that we need to hit back at them head on. They are worth at least 5 pts for the GOP in every cycle. Am I missing something?

9. Here's a thought: Murdoch has been known to like backing winners.
Especially if they are bright, young and appealing. See: Suddenly switching the endorsement of his UK media outlets to Labour from the Conservatives in 1997. That was long before it could even be imagined that Tony Blair would end his tenure with his legacy tarnished beyond repair by gullibly swallowing everything fed to him by the Bush "administration".

If Murdoch sees a tired loser in McCain and someone in Obama he could potentially make a lot more money via increased viewership/readership, it would not surprise me in the least to see his media outlets do an about turn in the next couple of months. Such a scenario would leave the likes of Hannity and O'Reilly having to remain neutral while perhaps sometimes shilling for Obama or face losing their lucrative jobs.

I don't believe these people have a belief set based on morals or what is the correct thing to do. They're happy to follow the money so I suspect we'd see a laughable change of view from plenty of employees if the Aussie magnate decides to go where he thinks to glory would be at the next election.

Olbermann pointed out that the time to do that was BEFORE he published his book.

5. Watching Fox is enough to drive me into a 15 minute rant, how do you have the patience?
Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 08:08 AM by genna
I take (I tape him but I'd like to take him on too) Chris Wallace on Sundays so I can watch 5 minutes, rant 15. Then after I am disgusted by the lack of vision, I watch other shows to get the spin on issues.

What do you do?

Watch, throw up.
Watch, type a response.
Watch, throw the rest of the bile up.

What are you fit to do after all that mess?

16. The original pitch for Fox and Friends
Rupert Murdoch:

"I have this great idea for a morning news program. Let's give a sportscaster, a weatherman and a general interest reporter 3 hours a day to pontificate on major political issues. Both the weatherman and sportscaster will be dumb as posts and we'll make the general interest reporter a leggy blonde who wears skirts so short she'd flash the viewers if we don't super-glue her legs shut.

We'll allow them 2 minutes to discuss each topic and we'll give a Republican commentator 1.5 of those minutes and a "plant" claiming to represent the Democratic POV 30 seconds.

We'll then claim to be fair and balanced even though a blind and deaf monkey could see it's all bullshit and because our target market is even more clueless than said monkey we'll kick the shit out of every other morning program across the nation."

FOX Executive:

"Geez, I don't know Rupert. Do you really think people are that stupid to buy into this trainwreck of a news program?.

Rupert:

"Just wait for the ratings, young grasshopper and believe."

He is constantly ridiculing people for their racial views. Yet, he surrounds himself with known racist. Such as:

Hal Turner, Bob Grant, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Furhman, Laura Ingraham, and Ann Coulter. This company truly need to called to the carpet for they way they report news!

19. last weekend, Insannity claimed that FDR was the one who instituted Jim Crow laws
:wtf:

I was channel-flipping over the weekend, and came across that ridiculous attempt at whitewashing history, via "Hannity's America." I wondered to myself whether he really believes the bullshit that comes out of his mouth, or even more frightening, whether the general public actually believes it.

Sean Hannity is fucking insane.

21. Why it seems few have taken on FUX
It only seems that way because there are very few liberal outlets whereas most of the media is owned by CORPS which have no interest in upsetting the applecart.
SO --- Disney, Sony, Time/Warner, Universal and ClearChannel will not do anything about FUX but imitate them. Don't forget, they have a vested interest in keeping people stupid.
There are many people criticizing FUX loudly on the small niche stations that they are allowed to get on. Olbermann is currently the most widely carried and MSNBC is a truly small cable operation. Don't forget Bill Moyers and Amy Goodman. Now add in Laura Flanders. That is on the TV side. On the radio we have Stephanie Miller leading the charge with the likes of Thom Hartmann and many others. Sam Seder was great when he was still on. 'Ring of Fire' rips FUX all the time.
The problem is not lack of voices, it's lack of access to outlets.

23. What about the elected officials?
In my view, its not the responsibility of the legit media to take on Fox. Its the responsibility of Fox's victims to quit enabling their own demise.

The GOP clowns constantly run on about the "librul media." Its one of their favorite straw men. If they can use that type of garbage to such great effect, it should be much more effective if our side goes after Fox, given the fact that we have the added advantage of being 100% right.

Hannity & Colmes should be renamed Trinity United Church of Christ Hour.

Any bets on the subject of tonight's show?

It seems FOX is the only network to have shows hosted by pundits.

That's all they are. I don't understand how people can't see that.

I actually went for business-related training and had the instructor opine that Fox is the only straight news outlet. All the others are basically all opinion.

How stupid is that?
