NBC Breaking: President Bush offers Obama his congratulations on clinching the Democratic nomination
Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 09:11 AM by VolcanoJen
Wow. So President Bush is more gracious than Hillary Clinton.

Interesting, that.

Edit: Updated subject - Bush did not call Obama, but rather offered his congratulations publicly. Somehow, I think that makes Clinton look even worse.

Bush congratulates Obama on Democratic Nomination - Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush offered his congratulations to Sen. Barack Obama for securing the Democratic presidential nomination, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said on Wednesday.

"President Bush congratulates Sen. Obama for clinching the Democratic party's 2008 nomination for president," Perino told reporters. "He knows from personal experience that the presidential nominating process is a grueling one and Sen. Obama came a long way in becoming his party's nominee."

Perino said Bush did not personally call to offer his congratulations.

13. Bookmarked! I'll cut and paste that link every time a Hill Shill lies to us again.
Excellent!!!

I would like to point out that Hillary Clinton did NOT win the popular vote during the Democratic race for a presidential nominee – according to RealPolitics.com.

Barack Obama without IA, NV, ME, WA caucuses and without Michigan, ended up with 33,916 more votes than Hillary Clinton.

Barack Obama with IA, NV, ME, WA caucuses and without Michigan, ended up with 144,138 more votes than Hillary Clinton.

Even if you include Michigan and the caucuses of IA, NV, ME and WA (giving Obama the Uncommitted in Michigan – remember, his name wasn’t on the ballot for voters to choose from, Hillary’s was – the State vote wasn’t suppose to be counted), Barack Obama still leads by 53,997 votes. The only way Hillary can CLAIM the popular vote is if she is allowed to count the Michigan primary and nothing from that race is given to Obama.

Voters in Michigan were told their vote would not count, so thousands more might have voted if they knew it would have counted. Barack Obama’s name was not on the ballot. He like the other Democratic candidates, except Hillary, removed their names from the ballot.

Hillary is CLAIMING to have won MORE votes then the first black man to have won the Dem nomination -- she wants to be put in History books as having beat Obama in popular votes, even tho he won the Delegate count.

She's also USING this fact of hers to claim RIGHTS to vp slot.

It's NOT a fact.

And it's never too late to CORRECT FACTS for historical purposes

7. No kidding
that so damned embarassing - Bushie does the gracious thing, and Hillary refuses to say the words in a speech, lets Obama get voice mail when he calls, etc.

The only good news is that she has dug her political grave by acting this way.

20. It is embarrassing..
I do not understand it myself.. she did such a great thing breaking that glass ceiling.. and we cannot even jump up and down and celebrate that, because they are all still in "the cave" as James Carville calls it reading emails?? ..~sigh~.. Senator Clinton needs to put on the shawl of leadership and move forward.. who can blame her supporters.. there are so many "messages" floating around, how could a person get a grip on it..

Terry McCauliff has not been a good advisor for her on this, but in the end, she has to make the move...and to have Bush and co come out first.. yeessh..

33. Frightened?
If you mean in love with and happily holding hands together, then yes, you are correct.

Clinton would carry on most of the Bush traditions, so why be frightened? Hell, Bill and Poppy are best buddies. Hillary even loves to vote for Dubya's wars too!

23. Will Bush invite him over for lunch like he did McCain?
(Cross-posting from a duplicate thread)

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24961184/

On Wednesday, President Bush offered his congratulations to Obama, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino told reporters.

"President Bush congratulates Sen. Obama for clinching the Democratic party's 2008 nomination for president," Perino said. "He knows from personal experience that the presidential nominating process is a grueling one and Sen. Obama came a long way in becoming his party's nominee."

Separately, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice described Obama's nomination as an "extraordinary" development for the United States.

And you can all flame away, but I was somewhat impressed with Rice's assessment. I have long had the feeling that there is actually something resembling a soul inside her body.
