What Kerry Said about Osama in the Debate was stupid
Edited on Sun Jan-04-04 08:19 PM by Mass_Liberal
Downright idiotic in fact. If Kerry doesn't believe in the idea of innocence until guilt is proven he clearly doesn't want to be part of american government. I'm sorry, I respect the man, and everything he has done for this country but him attacking somebody for representing one of the basic pillars of law in this country is revolting and waaaaaay over the line.

p.s: for those who didnt watch the debate Kerry in a stern voice said to Dean, "What in the world were you thinking saying Osama was innocent until proven guilty?"

p.p.s: that quote is far from exact, forgive me. I am sure that he said something along those lines

1. I totally agree.
Justice requires a trial, and proof needs to be shown that he did it. For everyone's sake.

That's America.

2. its the DLC poison talking in Kerry
Kerry has drunk the DLC poison and his basing his campaign on it. If he appears reasonable with Bin Laden, he looks like a Massachusetts Liberal, in his posion-addled mind. he must out-hate Bush when it comes to bin laden.

4. And if it was Kerry who said Bush's records are "open", he
hasn't checked with the Texas AG. Someone didn't either didn't get prepped well or was just over the top.

And Kerry flat out said Dean said that the Saudis told Bush about the attack coming. Not so- every time, from the Rehm show to Fox to the last debate, Dean said that was ONE of the theories out there because the investigation has been stonewalled- not that it was a theory he subscribed to. But there's Kerry, defending Bush over 911. Stupid!

6. And that's what Dean's response should have been.
Kerry said he doesn't see how Dean is going to beat Bush while seeming "weak" on national security.

Dean should have asked Kerry how Kerry thinks he's going to beat Bush while defending his policies. THAT would have shut him up.

9. The "Bush records are open" bs is really pissing me off
Sure, technically they're not listed as sealed, but the archive office still won't release any because they're still supposedly archiving them! The man was Governor of Texas for how many years??? Dean was Governor of Vermont for how many years? Yet all of Dean's records are archived and 60% are available for viewing. Why aren't Bush's at this point???

19. Worse, boosh is hiding his records in pooppy's
presidential library. No one can touch booshe's records, no matter what. Sorry, Dean didn't come back against Lieberman's stupid demands and asked him why didn't he demand that boosh open his records in 2000, when Lieberman was running as VP. I hate that stupid, ugly Livershit.

10. Kerry played to an inside straight
Kerry tried to advance an argument that needed more than a minute to make, and had a built in booby trap.

Kerry started out trying to make a point about Dean's "flip flops." For whatever reason, I'm guessing shock value, Kerry used Dean's statements on trying Osama.

Dean then, quit masterfully, completely ignored what Kerry was asking, and focused on the principles behind his views in his answer. Kerry asked a question about process, and Dean gave an answer about values.

If Kerry had had more time, he might have been able to make Dean into a corner, but within the constraints of the debate, Dean gave an excellent answer and it made Kerry's question look small.

14. What Kerry did was an insult to American voters. He thought
they would fall right over in fear of Osama and not realize that our country has a rule of law, even for cretins like that.

11. What is the goal of the military?
Personally I think Osama has more value as boogeyman. Like they're not looking for him that hard.

But say they hunt him down and corner him. Do they execute him more or less like they did the sons of Saddam? Without a trial. Are they guilty of a crime then? Just curious about the rules for this stuff.

12. Because Bin Laden was already proven guilty
by his own words.

And why on earth would ANYONE say Usama isn't guilty if they also supported war in Afghanistan?

15. Sadly......you heard it correctly...I watched whole debate and saw Kerry
on Pundit Shows (CBS) this a.m.

He said it and he isn't backing down on it. Your are "Guilty until Proven Innocent." ......Whereas I was raised believing you are "Innocent Until Proven Guilty" ......and "one has a right to a fair and speedy trial...right to a lawyer...etc., etc.

Seems Kerry feels Saddam and Osama are so "Guilty" they need to Die before they have an opportunity to "speak."

At least the "Nuremburg Trials" gave the Nazi's a "Right of Defense."

But, the BFEE thinks we Americans have forgotten all that and are too ignorant to notice when one doesn't have the guarenteed right to a "Trial" anymore.....Ho HUM.....Just tune into "Reality TV" and "Lingerie" shows on Football Halftimes.

America is Happy....giving up it's rights to fight "TERRA-ISM" for the Bushies!

16. In fairness to Dean
his remark probably wasn't a statement of principle. Just something that dribbled out of his mouth. And since he's running for President, people take it seriously.

18. Dean came back soooo Strong...
"The president has to follow the rule of law,' said Dean. Not only did Dean give it back to Kerry, he also gave boosh a black eye. Boosh called for a death sentence for his family's exbuddy, Saddam. A total disrespect for the rule of law.

22. Another example of Kerry throwing out principle to pander for votes
The problem for Kerry though is that he's got a tin ear for voters sentiments.
