I actually think the political process is important, and that if it's not working right and nobody gives a shit then nothing will ever get done about healthcare, infrastructure and homelessness. $473 million is, in fact, a small price to pay if we end up with a functioning government at the end of the process.

Didn't we have both branches of elected government?

Why wouldn't things have been taken care of then?
