Some of you need to spend some time in front of a mirror
An angry and upset Rep. James Clyburn said Wednesday that his office has been deluged with nasty phone calls with racial overtones since his endorsement of Barack Obama a day earlier.
Clyburn told FOX News Radio’s “Brian and the Judge” that the callers identified themselves as Hillary Clinton supporters. Clyburn, an African-American and the third ranking House Democrat, said a white intern in his office was so upset by the calls that she had to be consoled by other workers and left the office early.

“We got more vitriolic, nasty phone calls, really racially tinged phone calls in my congressional office, so much so, until one of the interns, a young lady who is not a stranger to politics … and she is not a black person, she left the office, had to be consoled because of the kinds of phone calls from people who identified themselves as Hillary Clinton supporters,” he said.

Clyburn said some of the callers used “names that I would not repeat on this show today.”

“I was absolutely shocked, could not believe that this happened. I could understand people saying, ‘Why are you doing this or why would you not support Hillary Clinton?’ but to call me the kinds of names I have not heard since the ’40s and ’50s,” he said.

18. Ditto! What else can you say?
Wow--Barack is an EXTREMELY QUALIFIED candidate...the racist nonsense has to stop....GOT THAT supporters of other candidates??????

Do you think Tiger Woods shouldn't merit the many PGA crowns he's won? How about Michael Jordan? Or the many Motown artists, or Denzel Williams, Halle Berry, Arthur Ashe...I could go on and on....Come on guys...talent is COLOR-BLIND! Give this poor guy a break and PLEASE try to help him win the office. We need Barack in power!

End of my rant...but the beginning of my relentless pleas if "things" don't improve on this site.

P.S. I am a WHITE, 52 yr. old woman...I am not trying to be biased here! I just want Barack to get a fair shake.

evidently laid into Clyburn some time ago and clyburn is only now talking about it..

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/04/wsj-clinton-used-expletiv_n_105161.html

Mr. Clinton called Mr. Clyburn an expletive, say Democrats familiar with the exchange. Mr. Clyburn's office would confirm only that the former president used "offensive" words. Some day soon, the congressman says, he'll write about the incident. On Tuesday, he endorsed Mr. Obama for president.

22. That is the type of "throw them under the bus" attitude that will keep Hillary off of the ticket.
She is not the type of change that Obama is looking for.
She is old school Washington politics, and not the kind of person that Obama want's as his veep.

This campaign will bring them out of the walls.
One piece of advice. When they emerge, slap them down HARD!
One on one, you won't be able to rock them but if it is public by all means let it be known that such comments pollute political discourse.

26. Dixiecrats existed way back when, before South went Repub
And I've run into a few racist Dems lately, from both North and South!

Bill probably called Clyburn a scumbag. He's as fond of the word as Carville is of calling people 'Judas.' LOL

11. Karl Rove's fax tree must be working overtime. No way a Hillary supporter
would identify themselves as that. It only helps to divide the party and that is what the GOP wants.

Many of them were probably racist repukes who are angry Obama will be the next President. Their only hope of stoppping him was Hillary and now they're pissed.

17. Yep.
I think that's most likely the case. Limbaugh and his ilk were desperate to run against Hillary; they clearly saw it as their best chance at retaining power.

24. I wondered elsewhere how long it would take to surface
Hillary encouraged hard core racists to vote for her. She has never once, never, blasted or even commented on voters who say such things in her name. Fine - so now as that Fleger priest dude said, we do seem to have an entitled white woman bitching because a black guy stole her show.

Should have know this was in the background from Bill's first nasty Jesse Jackson crack, right up to her promise of being the one who would bring in the "white" vote unlike her opponent.

I'd slit my f'g throat if this was the best I could do for a voter base, or if I ever had the thought to fire up voters in this manner. Bunch of scum. Hillary is a political tombstone in the making.
