What I want Obama to do NOW: put McCain back on his heels.
I'd like to see Obama hit the swing states hard. PA, Ohio, Florida, Michigan, Iowa etc. Big events and advertising. Get up in the polls in all these states, which puts him at a big EC advantage right away. Then just keep banging away: McCain is another 4 years of Bush.

Maybe even foray into the south and (gasp) Arizona.

Keep McCain flailing away on the defensive, never allow him to get any traction. If he can accomplish this by convention time, the election could turn into a rout.

1. He already has started.....his speech at AIPAC today....
He is defining his strategy for how America will deal with National Security....he is not going to let McCain and Faux news define his platform.......this is the difference between Obama and Kerry...

Obama is aggressively taking the Offensive..

2. Thanks. I'll have to read his speech.
That's very important, but he has to also do the retail politicking in these swing states to complement his policy positions.

5. Yes and it's good for the party
To use the old sports analogy, the "best defense is a good offense" - lay on him Obama and don't let off the gas until November 5!

8. He's already planning it
While McCain is waiting until the convention to get his advanced staff together and put a lot boots on the ground, Obama is already on it. I leave June 13th for an organizing fellowship in Ohio, and there are thousands of us. They wont know what hit them with the massive organization hes deploying this far before the GE

12. Obama really did poorly in Ohio in the primaries. You really think he has a shot in Nov. there?

14. Latest polls show him at +/- 1%
That translates to about a 3 point loss on election day. If thats all the ground he has to make up, I'm fairly confident. It does boil down to the VP choice though, a populist that can sit down at a bar in youngstown or moraine (GM has been shutting down plants there for 5 years) and tell them that he/she understands the problem can make it a blowout.

11. Obama could hit Florida as hard as hell; he isn't winning that state.
You can't assume that McLame will just rest and won't hit those states as well. It would be nice if he would waste some time in Wyoming or Alabama, but I don't think they're that stupid.

13. Time will tell.
McCain has a couple of advantages in Florida. Lots of seniors who'll be more tolerant of his age-related flaws. Strong rethug support in the Governor and Sen. Martinez, unlike Obama who will not enjoy much support from Nelson.

But did you see any of McCain's speech last night? Can you seriously believe that this guy will roll out a national campaign that will be effective?

15. You'd be surprised at Obama's chances in FL
Im not saying he'll win it, but the fact that he is only down by double digits without even have campaigned in the state is fairly significant. Its just another state that is in play if he picks my guy for VP (Feingold!)
