It was all about the SDs, Stupid
Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 09:48 PM by Laura PackYourBags
Despite putting every single ounce of her being into it, it was over for Hillary when the SDs started trickling O's way. It was never about the vote of the people - it ended up remarkably close.

It was all about the SDs - the people in government, in party leadership, who wanted Obama. After the Bush years, the desperate need to believe in someone again. The hope that their lives and careers could be spent in a government that could actually do something good again. The hope that the country they loved so much could come back again and we could shine again.

To our government and party leaders - Thank you. You made the right choice !

9. You're right, some of them did - but not all - like Kennedy and Kerry.

3. Ya, well - it's not about whether they have a right to have so much
power or not - actually don't really have an opinion on that, one way or another.

It's about the fact that given such an even election among the voters - they could have
easily gone one way or the other and it was overwelming that they went his way.

12. If there were no SDs then there would be different rules for electing PDs. His lead in one is the
product of the existence of the other.

5. it was both
without the votes, organization, and planning to gain the most pledged delegates, the SDs would not have moved in Barack's direction.

You are correct, regardless of how counted, the vote came out close. The delegate difference however, was no where near as close. If the pledged delegate proportions mirrored the popular vote, the difference between them would have been about 6 delegates.

Barack simply ran a far more efficient and organized campaign. He knew who his voters were, where they lived, and how to get them to the polls in numbers that made the difference where it counted the most.

The SDs moved in his direction because of his performance in the field.

11. I agree with what you say except at the end. I think it was more
to do with them actually liking him and wanting him in, on a personal and professional level that made the difference. If it was about just mirroring their constituents - they would have split. I think most of them are just like us - have dreams that life can
change for the better. There's got to be more of an explanation to it than just the normal ones - since they went to him so overwelmingly.

I totally agree - his campaign was brilliant. Enough so that I have zero doubt he won't be the next prez.

6. It WAS about the SDs who did NOT follow the voters......
Kerry and Kennedy in Massachusetts, Janet Napolitano, Governor of Arizona - both states won by Hillary bigtime.

The two senators and the governor went for Obama, early in the campaign.

There won't be time to do it but betcha it was the same in other states all over the country.

Fact remains, the primary system is broken and needs fixing.

1/2 votes my ass! DNC rules, my ass!

But.....it's over. We got to beat McCain if only so he doesn't get to pick Supreme Court Justices....

Ooooh! Hillary Clinton to replace the ailing Justice Ginsberg - Yesssss!
