I was lucky, I got to vote for Edwards before he stepped out. I live in FL, and it felt good to see all the names and all the choices on the ballot.
My mother lives in VT and said, it doesn't matter, this state is going for Obama. I don't know if it matters to vote. I said MOM, Hillary to me stands for Healthcare and sound Education: Go, vote, cast your vote for those two issues which are near and dear to our family, and cast a vote for a woman, even though you know it doesn't mean a hill of beans in regards to the results.. do it for yourself and for me and my sister and my grandmother, who didn't live long enough to mark that spot... Please do it knowing that it doesn't matter and doesn't change the outcome... do it especially because of that (I was not happy at that time with either and was leaning Clinton, but kept my eyes and ears and heart open).
So, she went. She voted. She cast her vote for a woman who stands for Healthcare and Education. And I was proud that she went and represented the long line of strong, beautiful, dedicated women in our family that couldn't vote that way.
Right time, wrong woman to actually take the Presidency. She needed to go. She needed to show the world that women are to be counted. She's just not the woman for the job. I'm sorry that she is married to a former President... Its just to close to an Oligarchy for my comfort... But without her raising the bar and showing the world it can be done, there wouldn't be a woman contender in the field for a long time to come.
THANK YOU!!!! Hillary Rodham Clinton for your courage and tenacity. I am so proud to be an American today. We have the first African American man running for president (and I expect him to win). And we had the first woman running a serious viable candidacy for the Office of Presidency. This is what courage looks like. This is what the opposite of fear and hate can look like. I've been so emotionally choked up so many times during this campaign, but today there is just a bit more sadness as a woman. I look forward to kicking some ass in the GE, but please understand what this means for women in this country; we're just a little sad and proud and well, emotional today.
