New Bush ad running now. What do you make of it?
Edited on Wed Aug-18-04 07:39 AM by Feeney2
Randi Rhodes and others have questioned the new ad about the section where Bush asks that no parent have to choose which child they should have to decide to pick up first after the aftermath of 9-11. Have you seen the ad and what exactly is Bush saying? It sounds like he is making a determination of which child I like more or favor and should I get them first. Randi, as I, just think you get the closer one first. The question asked in the ad is really bizarre. Do you think so.

1. Maybe he's talking about himself
Don't you think Barbara and George would have probably picked up Jeb first?

4. They would have to. They could never know which tree Georgie
was passed out under. But which child would Laura and Georgie pick up first? Jenna or Babs? I pick Babs.

10. I think he was talking about his own precious spawn
I'm sure he wanted them picked up from school and brought to his bunker in Nebraska. I'm also sure that idea was nixed. Shoot, even Pickles didn't get to go on that trip.

2. yes I think so...
it runs here quite often (Michigan) and he has this weird smirk on his face and says "I don't want anyone to have to choose which child they would pick up on September 11" or something to that effect...its strange and bizzarre and made me think he is trying to exploit 9/11...

My guess is honestly it was really poorl;y edited or scripted. The add would have better if he has his two daughters in the shot aswell. It just come off as a bit disjointed and not very effective. Oh wait....this is Dubya.....of course it is going to come off that way..... what was I thinking

5. The ad makes no sense at all
My 17 year old and I were watching the Olympics the other night when it came on. He looked at me and said "what the heck did that mean?"

9. I think they're trying to use 9/11 in a very off beat way to prevent
criticism about using it. Another attempt to scare you. I think it is a very ineffective ad and hope they spend a lot of money on it.

11. Mark McKinnon, ex-Dem, has made a fortune with his crappy ads! $100M
down the toilet! One might postulate that he is working for the other side, the ads have been so bad.

12. Pure fear-mongering.
There's nothing else in it. Just trying to spread that poisonous atmosphere of vague fear.

The reason it seems so puzzling is that it's so badly done. It seems like an out-take. I don't think it will do them any good.

My first thought on seeing it was -- if this is the best footage they have of George and Laura, they really are desperate.

15. I looked at that ad.
Did you see the look that Laura gave him. It looked like what the hell are you talking about? It is really weird. Little woman is so quiet only had the look to say are you nuts?

after seeing the ad, many have reported a sudden urge to send money to the 700 club....

What hits me as so weird and creepy about this ad is in the first few seconds, when he says he can't imagine the agony of parents on 9/11, blah blah blah.

Look at his face when he says 'agony'. His eyes light up and the fucker SMILES. This is a real sociopath who gets off on pain and suffering, blowing up frogs, letting his dog torture fish, bombing innocent civilians etc. It's the most bizarre and inappropriate facial expression I've ever seen in a political ad. Just gives me the creeps.
