So I have an idea about the convention and Teddy Kennedy
Edited on Sat Jun-07-08 09:59 PM by ruggerson
I think, if he's willing and able to make the nominating speech for Barack, that he's the one to do it.

And, granted this is a little theatrical, Teddy himself should be introduced by a clip from Bobby's speech at the 1964 convention, where he memorialized and lauded Jack with an incredibly powerful speech and was literally drowned out by the cheers.

It makes the visual and emotional connection from Jack to Bobby to Teddy to Barack.

It would be sentimental and sad, yes, but it could be incredibly powerful.

On edit: Here's a link to Bobby's speech if you've never heard it. It's one of the greats.

3. Obama is accepting the nomination on the anniversary of MLK's speech
Something along the lines of "I Have a Dream" would be more appropriate.

Linking his introduction to RFK's eulogy is inappropriate.

8. If Teddy is up to it, absolutely.
Most of the Kennedy family have stood with Obama for months. (Waiting on you Bobby, Jr. ..........)

9. I agree
The nominating speech should either be Ted or Hillary.

I prefer Ted with his health situation. I think it would be a powerful statement and that man can give a speech.

If not I like Hillary. A defeated primary opponent standing their passionately advocating for the election of the person who beat her.

In a kind of cynical note either one of those two would bring huge ratings.

10. I think it's better if Hillary is highlighted on another night
that way there would be three powerful speeches leading up to Barack's night.

Keynote address.
Hillary.
Teddy.
Then Barack's acceptance speech.

18. JMHO
but I think it's more powerful if he nominates him.

Get someone new and incredible to do the keynote.

16. What a great idea. I will take Senator Kennedy anytime, anywhere, for
as long as he can do anything. He has contributed so much, we have to embrace him and listen to him for as long as possible. Here's a really nice tribute posted earlier...

Pray for Ted, Remember Bobby
