I remember seeing the notice for this on Obama's website and wondered if people had been chosen.

2. Okay.
I have been looking on Obama's website and can't find anything about it.

3. Here was a posting from The Field blog:
Edited on Sun Jun-08-08 08:46 PM by Pirate Smile

Congratulations, Joe, Anushka, Ilan, Patrick, Mimi, Javier & Ian!
By Al Giordano

(Two three four five six) seven commenters to The Field - Joe, Anushka, Ilan, Patrick, Mimi, Javier and Ian - have informed us that they have been accepted into the Obama Organizing Fellows training and work program, and will soon begin intensive training to begin on June 14.

Joe writes:

From the Organizing Fellows registration page:

“We have a particular need for Fellows in the following states, and encourage you to relocate to one for this program if you don’t already live in one:

Colorado
Florida
Georgia
Iowa
Michigan
Missouri
North Carolina
New Hampshire
New Jersey
New Mexico
Nevada
Ohio
Oregon
Pennsylvania
Virginia
Washington
Wisconsin”

Just so it’s clear to everyone, this program will go forward in all fifty states. The ones on this list will start on June 14, and all other states will start in mid-July.

Note that among those 17 states where the program is starting first that, beyond those states generally said to be swing states, there are states that many self-proclaimed know-it-alls smugly assert will be solid Republican states come November: Georgia, North Carolina, Nevada and Virginia, among them.

Senator McCain is going to need a lot more fundraising help from George W. Bush than just tonight’s event if he’s going to be able to defend those states from the highly organized ground game the Obama campaign is launching. (This is very much a repeat of the Obama campaign’s strategy to target many caucus and primary states that the Clinton campaign chose to virtually ignore; now recognized as a key factor in his insurmountable lead in delegates heading into the Democratic National Convention.)

Did any other Field Hands get the same letter that these seven got today?

And to Joe, Anushka, Ilan, Patrick, Mimi, Javier and Ian: from one old community organizer to seven more: You’re going to learn a lifetime’s worth of skills - and unforgettable knowledge of human nature - from this season ahead. ¡Salud!

(Update: We learned of Ilan’s, Patrick’s, Mimi’s, Javier’s and Ian’s acceptance when they uncloaked on this thread.)
