Best (and craziest) thing I learned from GD:P is to treat Republicans better than I have been
Isn't that weird? At first I was sure this forum was being overrun by people posing as Democrats, the place was so nuts. Then I started hearing some of the exact same comments being said by Democratic friends I volunteer with locally. I realized that what sounded so crazy to me made sense to those who were saying it, people who are Democrats and have had the same goals as me for years now (this is in GD:P and in real life). I tried to diffuse some of the bitterness between Obama and Hillary supporters, tried to referee some very petty name-calling matches before I gave up on it.

In the end I realized that if it was so important for me to see people who were on my side get along better, why not make nice with Republicans too? I'm not talking about the fringe crazies (on both sides of the aisle) who have nothing but making trouble on their agenda - I'm talking about my fellow Americans who have the same concerns that I do and who were used because of their fear of what they couldn't control. I've promised myself to be more understanding of where they're coming from, I do believe they understand they were used and are now looking at the process with opened eyes. I believe they will help us make a difference in November.

SO - Thanks for something GD:P, you made me crazy but I did learn from you, love

1. Strange that you say that. I agree with you.
I additionally learned that Keith Olbermann's pomposity is not limited to his special commentary and that Thom Hartmann really is a person who tries with all his might to be fair.
