McSame surrogate (and potential veep) participated in exorcism
Okee-dokey... Let's see the MSM take on this one.

http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/06/bobby_jindals_dance_with_the_d.php

Bobby Jindal, the 36-year old governor of Louisiana, is being taken seriously by the national press as a candidate on the shortlist to be John McCain's Vice President. No one doubts that he's a political prodigy -- his impressive resume includes stints as president of the state university system, a Congressman and now governor.

But one of Jindal's job titles hasn't gotten much attention -- and it just might prompt a few questions if his Veep candidacy gains steam: Exorcist.

As others noted during his 2003 and 2007 gubernatorial campaigns (see update), in an essay Jindal wrote in 1994 for the New Oxford Review, a serious right-wing Catholic journal, Jindal narrated a bizarre story of a personal encounter with a demon, in which he participated in an exorcism with a group of college friends. And not only did they cast out the supernatural spirit that had possessed his friend, Jindal wrote that he believes that their ritual may well have cured her cancer.

~snip~

2. It's not just the fundie vote they're going after. It's Voo Doo, it' Santeria, it's Snake Handlers!
Casting out demons requires dead chickens, rum, and zombie dust. Throw in some rattle snakes, and you've got an exorcist Hootenanny.

7. And Your Point Is, Sir?
The recent elevation of the rite of exorcism by the Vatican is simply the result of their having to compete for converts in parts of the world where belief in possession remains wide-spread among the populace. Certainly Voudoun and Santeria are competitors in this regard, though they hardly exhaust the list. The element of fundamentalists in this country who proclaim 'spiritual warfare' are about the only element of the Republican base that will not roll eyes at this report, and the broad mass of the country will find it disconcerting.

13. Republicans are talking like Jindal will help them. Exorcisms don't get votes.
We love to see them in film and television, but we don't really believe in them, and we don't think highly of people who do. By "we" I mean most Americans.

Most Americans view demon possession as something that involves fringe thinkers, and that includes those practicing Voo Doo, Santeria, Snake Handling, or Christian Fundamentalists. Even among fundamentalists, there is a line between those who have what could be called "prayer" exorcism, and those who engage in more active laying on of hands.

Any way you slice it, take a young brown man with Indian ancestry, put him in the GOP, and place him at an exorcism, and you've got a guy who couldn't get elected to anything OUTSIDE Louisiana.

3. Maybe he can get the demons out of McCain.
That reminds me--Do you know what happens if you don't pay your exorcist's bill?

You get repossessed.
