Republicans will cross over for Obama
he represents what many if not most of their true base actually want in a candidate

faith
honesty
accountability
fairness
transparency in legislation

when they do they will be doing so out of a belief that this is the right thing to do for the nation

they will for once
be correct

when they come over we need to treat them like the prodigal son returning

"for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found."

Obama has said that he expects to be able to draw help from both sides once in office

im just saying......

13. I hope we can believe they will vote Dem.
On the other hand I have a lighter that shines a picture of a flying pig with wings, that is when I will trust that the rethugs are doing this for the right reasons, and not for some devious plot .

16. i have an easier approach with them
they are my family coworkers and friends
i know them and i do not doubt that when they vote they are in total belief they are doing what is right
even when i know them to be wrong
its always hard to remember they arent a monolith any more than we are

i know they are very unhappy with mccain and we wont have many opportunities like this

4. I do a lot. Many in my family are crossing over and those that aren't
have no love for McCain and are on the fence.

If Obama can convince them that he will be more fiscally responsible than recent Republicans the others will follow.

My brother is a Republican who is a non partisan office holder and all of his children are for Obama, just like Nixon, Eisenhouer and Reagans'.

12. We had a party for my daughter's high school graduation and everyone knows
I am an Obama zealot and I don't bring it up because once its on the table I won't stop.

So finally my boss brings it up (we normally don't talk about it) and my brother agrees and 35 other people of all varying degrees all jump in.

I just sit back and watch. My 75 year old widow (of a marine drill sargent) neighbor says that she is just sick of how they are picking on Michelle Obama. The kids of the two republicans read them the riot act. They not only know a lot about Obama but they are informed about McCain. The Republicans are quick to agree that anything is better than Bush and McCain is a disaster. We have a long talk and wonder if they Republicans are going to get rid of McCain before the floor collapses.

20. I know two people..One of them sent me an email about the awful way
McCain treated his wife. She does not like McCain at all. I think if any Republican ran she would have voted Republican. She also said that if Hillary was the nominee she would become McCain's best buddy. hahahahaha

7. Didn't McClelland say he was intrigued by Obama??
Edited on Sat Jun-14-08 11:40 PM by ailsagirl
When first interviewed by KO after What Happened
was first released? (and asked whom he planned to vote
for).

Or words to that effect.

8. One Thing That Indicates You're Right:
Look at donations from Wall Street. They lean a little more Dem than other industries, but this year is particularly striking.

Young evangelicals are defecting. McCain is giving economic conservatives no reason to have confidence, while three SEC chairmen are behind Obama. Values voters, as you point out, have a lot more to like in the Democratic candidate. The list goes on.

Obama may not win any of these groups, but he doesn't have to. He will be gaining voters and forcing McCain to play defense.

9. It's hard to call yourself a patriot
if you automatically hate about 30% or so of your fellow countrymen/women just for being stupid (conservative).

I refuse to give up hope that these people can be reached.

Cyrano said: "I have never needed the hope of victory to spurn me on to fight."

23. I know several of the least likely repubs that have said they will vote Obama
And they are not rabidly anti-McCain. They have stated that they believe Obama will help
the pathetic job market situation here in WV. I don't think it will bring WV back to blue this year
but I am not seeing a strong anti-Obama sentiment other than the stoic Hillary write-ins.
