Here is Move On's ad
Edited on Tue Jun-17-08 08:14 AM by ProSense
Video: Not Alex

The media can stir up a fake controversy by harping on it. Feigned outrage = backfire.

It's no surprise that they are falling all over themselves to protect McCain's honor when he is the one who proposed staying in Iraq for 100 years. Funny, they said nothing about McCain's 3 a.m. ad.

On Edit, maybe the pundits could spend sometime finding out McCain's views on Bush's recent comments:

Bush: Critics Of Gitmo, Abu Ghraib And Rendition Are ‘Slandering America’

16. Yes, of course many dads too. The fact that the ad shows a baby illustrates exactly how Americans
should be thinking. It's not just teenage boys that should be worried. If this lunatic is talking about 100 years and "bomb, bomb Iran", it means all of us and for generations to come. People in the middle east are still fighting a war from 1300 for crying out loud. They don't move on easily. I can't wait to send these evil SOB's packing.

5. THAT is exactly what Mother's Day was meant to be about each and every year...
Each year the president issues a Mother's Day Proclamation. The original Mother's Day Proclamation was made in 1870. Written by Julia Ward Howe, perhaps best known today for having written the words to "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" in 1862 when she was an antislavery activist, the original Proclamation was an impassioned call for peace and disarmament. In the years following the Civil War her political activism increased, as did her condemnation of war. Here are the words to the original Mother's Day Proclamation:

"Arise then, women of this day! Arise all women who have hearts, whether your baptism be of water or of tears!

"Say firmly: 'We will not have questions decided by irrelevant agencies. Our husbands shall not come to us reeking of carnage for caresses and applause. Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn all that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy, and patience. We women of one country will be too tender to those of another country to allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs. From the bosom of a devastated Earth a voice goes up with our own, it says "Disarm! Disarm!" The sword of murder is not the balance of justice. Blood does not wipe out dishonor, nor violence indicate possession.'

"As men have forsaken the plow and the anvil at the summons of war, let women now leave all that may be left of home for a great and earnest day of counsel. Let them meet first as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead. Let them solemnly take counsel with each other as to the means whereby the great human family can live in peace, each bearing after his time the sacred impress not of Caesar, but of God.

"In the name of womanhood and humanity, I earnestly ask that a general congress of women without limit of nationality be appointed and held at some place deemed most convenient and at the earliest period consistent with its objects, to promote the alliance of the different nationalities, the amicable settlement of international questions, the great and general interests of peace."

6. THIS is what they're objecting to? THIS!
I will go on record right now to say that my contribution to Move On for this ad was money well spent.

(Oh, and as far as McCain's assertions that our troops being there will be "just like Korea", well, have you looked at how well loved the US is in Korea are lately?)

7. I was just saying in another thread that what the MSM has done is gotten out in front
of this ad and TOLD us what is was and how we should feel. Don't discount how successful this tactic can be.

Even tho I watched the ad this morning, the "commentators" told me the woman was waving the baby around in front of the camera. I kept hearing this line then repeated here. In my mind, I could see the baby being waved in front of the camera.

I watched it a second time.. and there is NO DANGLING BABY.. ROFL ! So here are their talking points, just so people can BE AWARE of them:

Poor Production Quality (Who notices this?? A woman worried about their children coming home in pieces? I dont think so)

Over The Top Dangling Baby (There is no dangling baby)

McCain 100 years Comment Is a Lie (Oh, really?)

It's GOING TO BACKFIRE ! (Well, maybe.. but simply because THEY are getting out in front of it telling people how to feel about it)

FIGHT BACK PEOPLE ! LOL !

12. She should have been fully made up and coiffed and in a spiffy new outfit.
She can't possibly be a REAL new mother. :sarcasm:

So the big thing is a "dangling" baby? These critics apparently have never held a happy baby in their lives. :eyes:

8. What's the big objection? It's pretty tame but cuts right through the BS.
In fact, they read my mind and put it on a TV ad.

Hopefully, as they take it to task for the 2 minute outrage, they are actually SHOWING it. It's pretty damn effective.

13. That is a very good ad
It reflects how people really feel, outside the "beltway," about the possibility of having our kids in Iraq for 100 years.

Beltway media kids - like the kids of congresscritters - don't "serve" in the military. They "have better things to do" - like Cheney did.

So the "beltway" media is all upset that real people, living real lives, don't like the idea of forever in Iraq? What assholes.

24. make the kid older -- maybe a pair of kids 5-10 years of age.
The kids are tossing a ball with Dad, one of them throws the ball wide, Dad misses the catch, Dad gets his "message" in while retrieving the ball, and the kids "ambush" Dad so we see them up close just at the end.

NOT ALEX ROCKS! And it resonates with this mom whose sons are 34 and 36. This is exactly the way I felt when our boys were growing up in the 70's and 80s! We TOLD them about VietNam all their lives and told them that if the draft were to ever be reinstated that we would help them get to Canada!
