That's why Obama was wise in opting out of Public Financing. The amount of free publicity the Media will give John McCain will easily rival any amount of Money Obama spends during the GE.

That's why when the media states "Obama will be able to outspend McCain 4 to 1" don't believe what that means. Obama may outspend McCain in spending, but the media will make sure that McCain gets ample Free Publicity to make up for it. They would have done it anyways....which is why Obama was smart.

The McCain campaign knows this. So does the media. And now McCain and the media knows that Obama knows it too.

3. Media was going to buoy McCain anyways.....
so, Obama might has well give them an excuse for it.

McCain had first accepted than refused public financing for the primary.....but you don't hear the media crying about that.

4. Corporate media has lost much of its pull with average Americans in recent years. Plus,
they are still a bit timid to be SEEN as watercarriers this goround, since Dan Rather's lawsuit and McClellan's book both noting the media's odd deference and unquestioning posture for Bush and his administration from 2001-2007.

5. I don't know about that.
They have a habit of turning on a dime.

But certainly I hope that have been put on notice.

7. Well, you witnessed them falling all over themselves to claim how HARD they were on Bush
Edited on Thu Jun-19-08 06:06 PM by blm
after McClellan's book tour interviews, didn't you. Scott's charges against them hit home, and they know it. If they repeat that watercarrying for McCain at Bush levels, there are a few more left voices in the media now who will call them on it.

KOs increase in ratings the last couple years assured that.
