We need to play HARDBALL with these bastards!
I just received an email with a link to a 30 second YouTube of an anti-Obama commercial. It's a piece produced by a group called ExposeObama. I won't link to the video or the group, but I will say it is a professionally produced piece focused on the "Muslim" meme, and that it is grossly dishonest and dripping with slime. Evidently this piece has made the rounds in the blogosphere and I'm sure many DUers have seen it.

Anyway, It's my firm belief that we will be seeing more of this shit and that there is only one way to address it. And it isn't pretty.

We need to hit back HARDER and DIRTIER. Anti-McCain 527s need to produce even nastier slime pieces on McCain. They need to go as deep into the muck as humanly possible:

"McCain conspired with his commie keepers in 'Nam," or "McCain is paid by Saudi Royals," or "McCain was personally responsible for the S&L fiasco," etc., etc., etc. It maybe even needs to be even uglier than that. Sex crimes, etc. The producers of these spots then need to accumulate a massive war chest of cash - enough to outspend clowns like ExposeObama ten times over.

But here's the catch: these ads don't need to air. Representatives of the Anti-McCain 527s need to take these pieces to the McCain campaign, give them a demo and show them their bank statements. They then need to demand that McCain personally PUT A STOP to the garbage from his side. If he won't do so, THEN the gloves should come off.

It's time to play hardball with these bastards - it's the only language they understand. I know many Democrats will strongly disagree with such a strategy, but I think the only other alternative is to simply take the hits. And we all saw how well that worked out for Gore and Kerry.

If you want to kill rats, you need to get into the gutter.

1. And we'd have truth on our side. McSame DID collaborate with the enemy in Vietnam
His whole "war hero" persona is fiction. The guy was a shit sailor, a dangerous and deadly pilot and a collaborator who betrayed his country starting 4 days after his capture.

Even today, he's stonewalling the release of information on missing POWs to protect his own ass. He's a disgrace who should be in prison.

2. It's the MEDIA you have to fight...
so far, Obama has not had the media ignoring his counterattacks and refusing to air them..... so, so far, so good.

Hope it holds - it should considering there is a stronger left presence on the networks these days compared to what 2004 looked like with its fullblown protect Bush 24/7 mindset.

Obama has been getting his defenses aired, and that is something corpmedia would never allow in the last election. That is a significant difference.
This DU Research Forum thread nails the complicity of the media in 2004.

3. Yes, but now that Obama is pulling the plug
Edited on Fri Jun-20-08 03:28 PM by Truth2Tell
on all the lefty 527s, all of his eggs will be in the News Media basket. The minute they decide to ignore his responses it's game over. I don't like depending on that.

I think 257s that could guarantee mutually assured destruction would be useful to keep in his hip pocket.

4. 527s. And Obama can't pull the plug.
He's prohibited from coordinating with them. Personally, I think we need to do some swift-boating of our own -- both of McTraitor and his pill-stealing wifey.

Bush did was apolgize and state that he didn't agree with them -- it's an election, may the smarter man win...

7. Perhaps I am naive, but I could not disagree more.
I think that Obama's rising above the old way of doing things and rejecting politics as usual has worked extremely well up to this point. I wonder what he would think of the ideas being floated here. I would like to think that he would reject them, but that is where I may be quite naive.

8. We don't have a VENUE to compete with MSTIMBC/CNN/FOX
As long as they have 24-7 to bloviate, there is no way "we" can compete with their nonsense..

It sucks...but it just is what it is..
