Over the last few weeks, political and non-partisan volunteers in North Carolina have pounded the pavement from one end of the state to the other. It’s all part of an effort to register more voters in time for the May 6th primary. Jessica Jones reports record numbers of residents have registered.
This article gave me goosebumps:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2008/04/27/ST2008042702368.htmlLike hundreds of others, their quests led them to the Wake County voter services office this month to register as Democrats for the first time. The line of newcomers that snaked across the checkered tile floor was emblematic of those that have formed across the country this year: black voters, young voters, lifelong Republicans switching parties -- all registering in record numbers, and all aligning as Democrats.
Here's another:
http://www.newsobserver.com/politics/story/1031775.htmlLured by the political duel between Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton, North Carolina voters are registering to vote in the May 6 primary in record numbers.
North Carolina has netted at least 110,000 new voters so far this year, with a particularly sharp rise among unaffiliated voters, Democrats and black people, according to the State Board of Elections.
I'm not kidding, keep an eye on this state, we didn't stop registering people when the primary ended.
I hope this information about a southern state that has voted R since the 70's and is on the verge of changing that helps you! Have a good one!
