The playing field is not level. Why Obama Must Opt Out.
Please get a grip on reality here and stop letting the Echo Chamber do your thinking for you.

What is your favorite phrase for describing the coordinated crap fest coming over the airways posturing as news? Mainstream Media? Corporate Media? Bullshit Media System? That last one I am fond of, but they all convey the central, and quite simple point about the contest and who starts with what resources.

McCain will have his 80M from public financing, some unknown hundreds of millions from assorted 527s, and continued funding from the RNC right up until the day the rethuglican convention ends. PLUS he will get free 24 hour regurgitation of the daily RNC talking points from every major broadcast outlet. What exactly is the cash value of that last bit?

Obama will have as much money as he can raise from us, some 527 support, but MoveOn has already bowed out, and that is about it. Unlike McCain, the Bullshit Media System will not be echoing DNC daily talking points for Obama. Again, what exactly is the cash value of the in-kind contribution from the Bullshit Media System to the McCain campaign? Any guesses?

I'll put the value at 300 million dollars. I think that is actually low.

The playing field is not level. The cards are stacked against us right from the start. This is not about fighting the good fight, come what may, this is about winning, about ending an eight year nightmare that has nearly wrecked our republic. We cannot go into this fight shedding one of our major advantages: online fundraising, and expect to win just because we are the good guys. We have to go into this fight using everything we've got, and we have to be prepared for one hell of a battle.

Why are they pushing this issue? It is one of Obama's huge advantages over McCain. Please stop helping them by joining in the chorus.

2. Thank you, it ain't rocket science, and I am surprised
(okay only just a little surprised) that so many people are "concerned" about this.

3. I say take funds from any hard working American who can afford it and....
wnats to give it and screw public (government) financing. What do these people want? Obama has refused the corrupt money and is expecting his support from the people who want to support him. I'm all for it!
