1. If we receive another tax rebate, mine will go straight to Obama, lol
I watched five minutes into this, so I've bookmarked it for later. This will be interesting to watch in its entirety tomorrow morning with coffee. Thanks for posting this, Frenchie!

:hi:

2. Yes, it is a long one, but good.
Give insight on what can happen.

10. It has been rather odd seeing the West Virginia Party leaders from
Senators to Representatives to now the Governor appear so strongly in Obama's corner. Do they know something that their constituents don't?

They seem quite taken with Barack.

5. (After watching) This meeting between the Governors and Senator Obama will go a long way
toward setting the agenda for the Five E's: Economy, Employment, Education, Environment and Energy. And they're right, the keys to the success of the Five E's are Infrastructure and a good Federal Capital Funding program.

I wish I could rec this link again, Frenchie. I'm keeping it bookmarked. It'll be interesting to watch this again in a few months to see how what was discussed here develops.

8. It was fascinating!
It will be exciting to watch the proposals come to fruition.

Obama is an excellent listener and serious as a heart attack.

6. Damn, that was impressive.
It's one thing to hear him make an inspirational speech, or give an interview answering really dumb questions or "gotcha" questions... but hearing him in a back-and-forth conversation about complex topics really highlights how knowledgible, intelligent and intuitive he is, and what a strong grasp he has on the issues. I've been a supporter of his since just before Super Tuesday, but now I see why so many superdelegates made that choice. He will make a tremendous leader for this country.

Empty suit my ass.

Thank you so much for posting the link! :hi:

11. It's great to see Obama working with democratic governors.
Jim Mansion of the infamous West Virgina said it was the first time he had ever heard of it!

12. Yes, there seem to be quite the wonderment that these meetings will
be happening during the campaign instead of after it. I believe this to be a wise move for Obama as a candidate, and for us as Democrats.

Belying the title of my OP at the time, the Governor's meeting took place yesterday-
Today, he addressed a conference of Mayors.

13. I just watched.....
both....first the governors, then the mayors...
seems like such a smart thing to do to get other leaders involved and fired up.
After the mayor's speech, people were hooping and hollering...fun to see the enthusiasm.

14. That's part of the Obama organizing phenomenon........
from the bottom up. He started with indivisual voters, and must go up the chain of command.

It is an excellently good strategy.

15. Rendell, O'Malley, and Strickland can go and sit down somewhere.
I was appalled by their behavior during the primary season. :(

17. Here's an article I got off
buzzflash on "Pro-Hillary govs shift to Obama
'08 CAMPAIGN | Blagojevich misses gathering, goes to flood"

<end snips>

"The meetings also gave Obama and the governors, many of whom just recently switched their allegiance from Clinton to Obama, a chance to plan their strategies for winning the general election. Obama paid special attention to Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland and Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, all of whom are former Clinton backers in key swing states.

The gatherings also gave Obama face time with vice-presidential prospects, such as the above-mentioned governors, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius; North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, and Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano. Virginia Sen. Jim Webb made an unrelated stop in Chicago to promote his latest book Friday. All of the vice-presidential prospects demurred on their interest in the spot, just pledging to help elect Obama.

While McCain was extolling NAFTA up north, Granholm said it cost her state 400,000 manufacturing jobs.

“As applied, NAFTA and CAFTA have given us the shafta,” she said.

The governors asked Obama for more federal help on education."

18. “As applied, NAFTA and CAFTA have given us the shafta,”
pretty good line from the great Governor of Michigan.

And absolutely correct.

Great article.
