So much for stripping telecom immunity from FISA
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3496764

Yesterday, the House passed a “compromise” wiretapping bill that “condones the actions of telecommunications companies that cooperated with illegal warrantless surveillance after 9/11 by virtually assuring the dismissal of the dozens of lawsuits pending against them.” While indicating his “support” for the bill, Sen. Barack Obama said he will “work in the Senate to remove” the provision granting retroactive immunity to the telecoms. In an interview with Bloomberg TV, Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) said he will “try to have a separate vote on immunity.” “Probably we can’t take that out of the bill, but I’m going to try,” he said.

Harry Reid says he's going to try to have a separate vote on immunity. The SENATE MAJORITY LEADER is going to try to have a vote.

12. Sadly, it looks like a filibuster is out of the question
The House's passage of the FISA Amendment bill marks the beginning of the end to a monthslong standoff between Democrats and Republicans about the rules for government wiretapping inside the United States. The Senate was expected to pass the bill with a large margin, perhaps as soon as next week, before Congress takes a break during the week of the Fourth of July.

I don't have a link to a head count or anything, but this isn't the only news story I've read that talks about the large margin of support for the bill in the Senate. I have next to no hope of a filibuster being able to succeed.

14. If the votes for cloture are already lined up, a filibuster would be useless
A completely pointless gesture. I don't know, maybe symbolism is all we have left.

15. Lets see. I admit I am a gullibule idiot for having hope that the senate may stop it but its all
I have left.

If this passes the only thing I can do is appeal to the president to veto it which is like asking the moon to leave orbit. But again all I got left.

If this passes we lose the 4th amendment and that is that for me and politics.
