Obama on Supreme Court Appointments
Maybe we need a reminder of the differences between a potential President Obama and a potential President McCain.

We need a President who appoints justices using the EXACT criteria Obama outlined last year.

Obama on Supreme Court appointments:

"We need somebody who's got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it's like to be a young teenage mom.

The empathy to understand what it's like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. And that's the criteria by which I'm going to be selecting my judges."

2. Damn, if he uses those standards...we'll be in good stead.
Too bad those fuckers Thomas, Scalia, Roberts, and Alito are all so young.

8. He taught Constitutional Law. And he's right about the empathy thing. Here's a suggestion.
Would be great to see somebody like former Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer on the Court. He's also a former Michigan Supreme Court justice, first African-American president of the American Bar Association, and a terrific, honest and decent guy. Unfortunately, he's also 66. But that's the KIND of person Obama should appoint.

11. I want someone who will also restore the contsitution with regards to "corporate personhood"

... and "corporate free speech". Meaning that these "activist" decisions would be overturned!

To me, these are just as important as Roe v. Wade and other big decisions, and getting rid of them will pave the way for us to elect better reps later to ensure that we put protections for Roe V. Wade and don't just rely on the current mix of judges to protect it.

I think someone like Erwin Chemerinsky would fit this pretty well, who is one of THE experts on constitutional law!

14. It's Justice. He would be fine, though.
I think he would be an excellent choice, and still young enough.

13. Who is this Obama character you guys speak of?
The more I hear about him, the more I like him. Was he in a Britney Spears video?

He didn't just hit it on the nose, he punched it on the nose, broke the nose, and caused a blood gusher from both nostrils.

:applause: He gets it!
