You know how I know Obama is making the right decisions?
Edited on Thu Jun-26-08 06:23 PM by cbc5g
I held my nose and watched Brit Hume for 10 minutes to see what the Republicans are saying about these decisions ... and when they brought up Obama they were squirming and saying "uh" "umm" "ahh" about a thousand times trying to say he's either flipping or being dishonest. They couldn't believe it. They just can't understand why Obama didn't give them anything to attack him on and you could tell they were frustrated by it. They were itching to call Obama a Dukakis leftist. He's not giving the RW any ammo. Brit kept pressing Mara Liasson about them being flips (the gun and DP decisions) and she shot back that she has watched Obama and he was being consistent. Brit looked dumbfounded.

And then the whole North Korea thing....They were having a rough time.

1. No one is right all of the time.
You just have to be right most of the time. Just ask a stock market investor. Obama is right most of the time and if he continues he will be our next president. Bush has been wrong most of the time.

16. True
Heck, many successful TRADERS (vs. investors) are right less than 50% of the time and still make bank.

The concept is to keep your losers small (tight stop losses) and ride your winners. A couple of big winners, like if you rode oil futures from 70 to 140 make up a for a LOT of smaller losers.

It cost me about 30k to learn that lesson :)

The market is a demanding mistress

How Obama gonna really win is another matter...we hope he hasn't run outta bullets....

Odds are: he will prevail....the Pubs have stymied themselves by backing Bush for all these years...

12. personally, I think you're right.........
I think they wanted to run against Hillary because they already have tons of stuff on her and Bill. All they had to do is drag it out of the closet and dust it off!

But I was in another group one time and this person was telling me that she had been to some kind of function and Baker was there and he said the republicans wanted to run against Obama. It didn't make any sense to me at the time and, in fact, still doesn't. Unless they thought he would be easy to beat because he's black. But this person was convinced that they wanted to run against Obama.

15. It was a set up.....why do we now see a large percentage of Pubs came out for OBAMA...esp in IOWA
Edited on Thu Jun-26-08 08:33 PM by opihimoimoi
then when Obama appeared to lock it up...

here come Rush and his operation Chaos....to extend the fight...and to throw confusion...these guys are rude and crudes but scheming all the way.

What they took a chance on was if Obama would fold or not....apparently, they guessed wrong....Obama will beat them on their turf and on his own....

McLame cannot find his NITs too.

Nothing to really pick with....

21. I agree...........
I think they underestimated him. Probably their arrogance (and we all know they have plenty of that!) allowed them to believe a black guy could never be elected.

operation chaos.......yeah, right! I was never convinced that Rush had that much influence. I know he believes he does and I suppose there is no way to prove it one way or the other. But I do know that many republicans have supported Obama......

And even if the op chaos did work, it didn't work for them the way they thought it would. Obama has said that long, tough primary made him a better competitor and I believe that too.

McSame doesn't have a prayer.........he's as good as done now!

27. I know many people have suggested that..........
...and in fact, he could do it but I just don't believe he would.

We all know that his ideas about democracy are more like a dictatorship. They are spying on US citizens secretly and have done many other secretive things (I'm sure there are many that we don't even know about even now)!

But the reason why I don't think he would do that is because he wants this country to still have the appearance of a democracy. If people still vote and can still have some kind of belief in the democratic system, people will still believe in the illusion of the democracy. If he suspended elections, it would be too visible and all kinds of people might object to it.......maybe even some republicans!

Although he probably could rig the elections (with Diebold, etc) but if he did, he would have to cheat by a lot more than they did in '00 or '04! This election it will be much more difficult for them to change the numbers. I believe Obama will win by a lot (maybe 10% or more) and in order for McCain to win, they would have to cheat by a lot more.

by coming out fast and clearly explaining his positions that many don't know about instead of giving the RW room to paint him as a leftist. Positions that disarm RW talking points.

11. haha, imagine that......a consistent candidate!!!
It's too bad republicans never thought of that......well, on second thought, no it's not too bad.

But as another poster noted today at DU, they haven't been able to define Obama in any way that sticks!!

Hawaii Hiker wrote today:

They have called him too many contradictory things. Is he:

- an elite country clubber or a guy with a strange name raised b y a hippie?
- a Christian with a controversial pastor or a secret Muslim?
- a black activist who hates whitey or an Ivy League lawyer who doesn't understand Joe Sixpack?
- someone who is naive or someone who is a Washington insider?
He can't be all of them at once. Now it is too late to define him as Obama, backed by tons of money, will be defining himself very soon"....

He makes a good point! Just ask Hillary, she tried to throw everything at him all at once, even the kitchen sink!! And he's still winning......

17. Obama is shrewd
And he is playing politics very well.

Why give the opposition ammo? Being smart is one thing. Hillary is smart. But she ran a terrible campaign. You gotta be more than smart (ie wonkish) . You have to apply yourself tactically and think strategically. Obama does this. It RAWKS!

18. He is indeed
Pulled the wool over a lot of progressive's eyes in the primaries- and now he's playing the far right.

I suspect that if he manages to get elected, he'll govern much like Clinton- to the progressive side on a few issues, but farther to the right on many others.

Which would make the mid-term elections very interesting....
