I'm sensing a lot of negativity here. How about something to remind us what we're fighting for?

I can tell that people are upset about this or that from the past few days. And while I can see where you come from, we also have to remember what we're fighting for here. Here's a music video from one of my favorite bands. It's also some food for thought (I believe it's based on a true story too:

2. This is who I'm fighting for:
:loveya:

If he can hold-on for eight years while fighting the good fight into his 80s, I can vote for someone who'll give him a fitting replacement.

3. Who is that?
Sorry, but I'm in my 20s so the 80s aren't as clear to me as they might be to you.

7. It's a combination of things - O supporters who think the GE is a continuation of the primary (NOT)
for the GE, his focus HAS to shift to reach others who did not support him in the primary or since. That includes the disgruntled HRC and McBomb supporters. What does he have to offer: a meeting of the minds, a coming together, a unity that I wonder if our country is even capable of experiencing again. It's about give and take.

2. that the separation of right and left issues are black and white with no shades of gray (NOT). Look at the 2nd amendment ruling re handguns. What happened in DU? Those most opposed to this ruling went ballistic! I was shocked at the outpouring of rants, and the discouraging thing to me was that there was no reasoning with them. It appears to me that those ranters didn't stop to consider that this is now a non issue and cannot be used against us which translates into picking up more support = more votes = winning back the WH. Same thing with FISTA. I read his comments, and I agreed. He is an intelligent, far-sighted, thoughtful man--qualities that I find most attractive in a president, not only attractive to me, but traits that will have far-reaching impact in interactions with other world leaders. Look what W is doing right now - the very thing that the Repukes have ridiculed O for advocating: COMMUNICATION. He RESPONDS rather than REACTS - and there is a difference. Wish some of the DUers would spend more time responding rather than reacting (angry name-calling, rants, "facts" w/o stats or evidence to back-up and when asked to produce, they go on the attack, accusing the questioner of "flame-baiting" or hurling other insults.) This behavior demeans the integrity of the DU, IMHO.

3. there are still HRC supporters trying to come to grips with the turn of events, a few of whom are outspoken about their principles (implying that O supporters or O himself do not have principles) (NOT) and who still want to compare the two which is counterproductive at this point now that O is the presumptive nominee. I guess they are still trying to change our minds about the presumptive nominee? I don't know. If these posts make them feel better, who cares--so long as they don't bash O. I just shake my head and skip their posts. They do have other message board options to rally 'round Hillary.

4. Unrealistic expectation of O or any candidate, for that matter. It's like everything else in life: one has to find what most closely resonates with one's philosophies--realizing that there will never be a perfect match--and stick with it. Can we discuss our differences? Absolutely! But in a respectful, calm manner (which has been somewhat rare lately.)

5. Definition of change: No one is sure of exactly what change he represents (and the MSM LOVES to trounce all over this) But stop to think about the very word itself: some synonyms: alter, vary, modify, exchange, shift, substitute. That's an indication to me that nothing about his campaign is going to be static or traditional.

Personally, I think the overriding theme of his ideas of change for this country is UNITY
synonyms for unity: accord, agreement, alliance, association, communion, concord, congruity, consent, continuity, harmony, one, oneness, peace, sameness, singleness, solidarity, unification, uniformity, union, unison, wholeness.

We are an antiquated 2-party system, and O is trying to bring us together, to unite us, to ask us to "look at the big picture" about our country, about our future.

And our country need unity first and foremost. We cannot move forward without it.

So, maybe a good starting place when he speaks of CHANGE would be to think about change in terms of UNITY.
