Andra Mitchell calling Wes Clark remark dumb and stupid, yeah showing
Edited on Mon Jun-30-08 05:14 AM by EV_Ares
her unbiased news reporting. Can't believe how these so called reporters act anymore. Also, Mika, just totally unbelievable. Why don't they just start wearing McCain buttons while they are reporting. John McCain's service is just off-limits.

1. Memo To Press: Clark did not slam McCain's service. He is simply making a point
that getting shot down and being a prisoner of war does not make you eligible to then be the president.

2. But you see.. It doesn't matter that there's truth to it. He just shouldn't
be saying that because of John McCain's "heroic" service. :puke:

I just whipped off an angry email reminded them of how they embraced the swift boat liars so maybe they should stfu.

3. I hope you tell them the only ones reinforcing the idea that McCain's service
makes him a foreign policy expert who will keep the country safe and no one else can is the PRESS. Here they have a real foreign policy expert telling them it does not. This is not a slam on McCain service. It is however, a challenge to their own spin and they can't believe it is being challenged.

Not an original thought in that little head of hers. Andrea Mitchell is a subpar journalist. She knows a decent amount of foreign policy, but her interviews always suck.

10. LOL, I am glad I am not seeing her ineptness alone. Man, she just did it again,
I just don't see it as politically smart, going after Wes Clark on John McCain's military service qualifying him as president. The reason this amazes me so much is if John McCain wants to make his military service the main thrust of his campaign, then it should be qualified. Who better to qualify it then General Clark.

These same people did not allow John Kerry to use his military service against George Bush.

12. She's just caving in to Joe's pressure
even when he's not around. Joe Scarborough threw a fit a while back when he was mulling over Clark's "untested and untried" quote and Mika readily succumbed to the pressure then. I love how Harold Ford Jr. brought up the fact that Clark said the same things on Morning Joe a couple weeks ago and Mika had no reply to that.

I don't think any of that crap she flaunted out there was true, she just wanted to be "first" even if what she was saying is sourced from an anonymous conversation across stalls in a bathroom or something.

of their ability and Andrea is one there because of her husband, Greenspan, Tucker Carlso, wealthy republican father, Mika because of her father and his position. None of, oh yeah, Willie, his father as well, isn't he on that Sunday Morning show. Anyway, all of these people are weak.

The campaign is going to be defined by the talking heads as glib, inexperienced, non-veteran Obama against straight-talking, statesman/war hero John McCain.

17. Or everyone could stop watching this crap....
Seriously. If we're all on line to be able to post here on DU then that means we must have similar access to any number of news sources from around the world. So if that's the case then what is the point of watching news shows and channels that we KNOW are going to be biased in a way we don't like, and then complaining about it on that same internet that could be providing you less biased news and more factual data.

After years here on DU I will never understand this. Yes, these people on morning news shows are idiots and they are biased and they twist the facts. What possible purpose is served by watching it and complaining about it. Especially complaining about it on a device that has the capability of providing us news and information that won't irritate us.

And no, the "know what the enemy" doing excuse is a load of bunk too.

and one needs to be informed about the bunk that the creeps have said lately--sorry if that's so damned irritating--but setting other folks (relatives/friends/coworkers) straight about the propoganda catapulted on a morning basis is NOT the type of high horse we ought to be irritated by.

You may not watch it and you may not see ANY value in engaging others at work or home about it, but your bunk may just be a duty to others.

18. yeah, I figured this would happen, but it's still funny to watch how shameless Andrea Mitchell is
Edited on Mon Jun-30-08 06:44 AM by ErinBerin84
I turned on Morning Joe for a minute just because I KNEW they would be mischaracterizing it and pitching a fit. They were talking about the NYT front page story first, and then Andrea Mitchell (faking acting all "breathless" at the "offensiveness" of Wes Clark's remark) asking a former White House chief of staff about it. He was answering the reporters direct question, you fucking ding dongs. Which they know, which is why they are isolating that one quote. They have some fucking nerve after the swiftboating thing, which WAS the GOP specifically criticizing Kerry's military ssrvice. There is a difference between criticizing someone's service to the country, and questioning whether someone's military service has any relevence to one's national security credentials. But of course, they know better, and are just actng as puppets. Have they read any emails this morning/what do the emails say?

(I know that I'm preaching to the choir in complaining about Andrea Mitchell, but sometimes I just need to get it off of my chest. I wish there was a specific forum that was devoted to just bitching about reporters, because even though I know that I should turn it off, even watching for a minute makes me want a forum to commiserate. I tend to do this a lot, so please put me on ignore if you find this annoying, which is understandable).

32. Oh Christ. Talk about exploitative.
I don't really think that it's just this specific issue though, Mika is NOT a liberal by any means, despite the show's attempts to try and pass her off as one. She was one of the loudest chorus of people claiming that the Democrats were trying to make McCain's age an issue by saying that he was "confused" and "did not have a grasp of the facts". She even sniffed "I am NOT liking the tone coming out of the Obama campaign!" (when she was lying and saying that the Democrats were using code words to go after McCain's age). The irony is not lost on us, Mika. And I really shouldn't be freaked out about the RNC trying to go after Clark on this too, they tried to pin the lie that Howard Dean was demeaning to McCain's military service as well when he said NOTHING close to that.

First there was a black lady who reads the news (didn't catch her name) who said Clark was "distorting" McCain's record. Then Andrea Mitchell came on with her show and said Clark was "attacking" McCain's record. Then Monica Novotny's show came on and she said Clark was "parsing" McCain's record. It sounds like they had a creative development meeting early this morning to all agree to make up things about what Clark said and they were all handing out different verbs to describe it. This is shameful and these guys are just as far away from true journalists as you can get. They sit on their asses every day making tons of money for spouting lies.

Her whole "dumb blonde" routine SO doesn't work for her..

I personally think the main stream media as a whole grabs on to things like this for the sake of keeping the "horse race" going, to keep on giving the impression of a close race, even though that is not what most of the polls are showing. And things like this helps to produce tension which produces drama..which produces ratings. The way they seemed to want the primaries to drag on forever is proof of that and a few of them even said as much. They probably don't even care who wins; they just care about that one thing..
