Bush approval in NH 16%, 75% disapprove & get this, 9% don't know
"ARG ran a poll in New Hampshire asking whether people approve/disapprove of George Bush. It was 16% approve, 75% disapprove, 9% don't know. The 75% is large, but sort of expected now. But how can 9% of the people not know? Either you like Bush or you don't. How can anyone not know after 7 years? The significance of the New Hampshire poll is that New Hampshire is probably the only Kerry state McCain might realistically win. And with such a bad approve/disapprove ratio for Bush there, McCain will have to distance himself from Bush substantially. His attraction in NH is that he is sometimes seen as a maverick. But saying "I approve of the Bush policies, I will just execute them better" is not going to be a winning slogan in New Hampshire".

2. Not that surprising, really.
In other words, slightly less than one in 10 people have absolutely no interest in politics, current events, or the direction this country is headed. Sounds about right.

4. True; it doesn't specify that they polled "likely voters."
Among the public at large, that makes sense; there really are people who are that clueless about things.

5. Not sure why some pundits insist on putting NH in the McLame column
I would have months ago, but now ... nope. Not gonna happen. Look at the Senate numbers, which have Democrat Jeanne Shaheen crushing her rival John Sununu. Look at Democrat John Lynch's approval numbers, which are among the highest of any governor in the US. NH is a blue state now.

6. Agreed. Even on the time frame.
Back in April or so, I would have said McCain had a real chance in NH, but no longer.

7. Apparently 9% of NH residents believe 'if you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing'.

8. Sounds like BS to me.
I can't imagine that 9% don't know unless they're polling the Alzheimer's community heavily.

10. They're paleolithic Repubs
still trying to come to terms with the fact that the party they've supported since God was in kindergarten has screwed and then abandoned them.
