What Wesley Clark said was right on target.
Maybe I surprise some of you saying that, but this is deja vu all over again and again.

Whenever someone in our party says something so true that it makes your head pop, makes the media scurry to attack it, makes the rest of the Democrats distance....then you see in action the fear of the right wing.

In 2004 whenever Howard Dean said anything controversial, even though very true....the same thing happened.

The forums and the websites and the media went nuts...Oh No...Howard Dean can't say those things!! It is not acceptable to say such things!

Well, what Wes Clark said was perfect, it should have been said. Not one single Democrat should have been critical of him.

Again we seem to be fearful of just being honest and must hide behind false outrage. We must pretend that our Democrats must distance from the left.

No more pretense.

2. mccain's record is open and fair game - he is not a saint just cuz he is...mature
his image is postured as wise military expert, but the reality was he kept his job because his old man was an admiral or
something and when he wrecked a bunch of navy jets he got away with it. if his prisoner of war era is fair game to brag about, the negatives of the era are also appropriate.

3. No one is afraid of the GOP. It's the MSM that's the problem.

4. Should I classify this under Hope or under Change? Recommended
Edited on Mon Jun-30-08 03:25 PM by Catherina
We capitulate to Republicans so we won't look "weak".

Then we stab allies like Clark and the Left in the back to make ourselves look "strong".

Brilliant logic. Should I classify this under Hope or under Change?

5. Thanks MF. You remain true to your deepest convictions
I always can expect that of you regardless of whether we agree or disagree on any specific matter. I don't want to turn this incident into a reason to attack Barack Obama's campaign, that helps no one but McCain. But I am always heartened when netroots activists, regardless of who they may have supported in the past, stand together behind a Democrat who has the courage to speak the truth. Wes Clark deserves all of our backing against the main stream media whores who are trying to twist his words into something he never said in order to take him down. Wes Clark showed no disrespect here, and Wes Clark told no lies.

6. He was exactly right.
But you cannot say that unless you are a war hero or you get slammed for it.

8. Clark's military credentials stand up to McCain's any day, any time.
He CAN say that. Who's going to shoot him down? A bunch of Republican armchair
Rambos whose closest encounter to combat was watching "Saving Private Ryan"
at the local shopping mall?

11. That's the point.
Clark CAN say it - Obama CANNOT. He, himself, has no military credentials.

He didn't attack Clark for saying what he did. All he basically said was "I will not question Sen. McCain's military service."

No problem for either of them.

And now, that statement is out there for the public to chew on, made by a career military man with impeccable credentials.

12. Yep, I think Obama and Clark set it up that way
Can you imagine how rabid both the McCain campaign and the MSM would have been if Obama had said it?

But even if the MSM are a bunch of McCain cheerleaders, camp McCain can't really attack someone of Clark's military credentials the way they would have been all over Obama to hell and back. Clark took one for the team by getting the slam on the air.

And Obama takes the high road and avoids a charge of flip-flopping by maintaining that he won't attack McCain on his service record, denying the Right an attack strategy.

15. Gen Cark did not attack or denigrate McLame's military service.
Of course, that is the shrill pronouncements of the Rwing shills on the US Corp. Media. Will Dems, once again, allow the Rwing to frame an issue?

17. Clark will dish it back out to them as hard as they toss it at us
But it's not Clark's presidential campaign.

It's up to Obama's team to toss this crap right back in their faces before it sticks to ours.
