That went well.

But I understand that this is all part of a master plan. How diabolical! Go at McCain with sympathy. Yes, that's it!

Send Clark out to say something only Clark would have the cajones and rights to say and people would open their ears. Then disavow it.

Masterfully played. We Democrats are so smart. This is how we win all the presidential elections. Playing games.

1. Taking the moral high road worked well in the primaries...
I don't see why it won't work in the general.

2. Yes, this is exactly what happened in 2004. That is to say, it's what Bush did, and it worked.
Send a surrogate out. Have him trash your opponent. The media then repeats the 'attack' over and over and over again, even if just to attack the attack. The attack sinks in. Meanwhile, the candidate gently "denounces" the attack, and comes out smelling like roses.

Repeat, repeat, repeat. Watch your opponent's numbers slowly dwindle.

7. That Part Only Works for the Party That OWNS THE MEDIA
When Repiglickins attack, the media reports the attacks verbatum as "news".
When Democrats attack, the media hits back on behalf of the Repiglickins.

8. No, it pretty much always works, in any country and with any party.

3. The point is to get the question out there
Edited on Mon Jun-30-08 05:36 PM by smoogatz
without getting it all over the candidate. Obama gets to look sincere and respectful, and now the question's in play: in fact it came up at McCain's presser today, apparently, and he ducked it. So yeah, politics is a game and this is how it's played. I'm not sure why that's so hard for some DUers to grasp.

4. I suppose in order to change the game's rules
you have to play by the old rules first.

5. The rules are that if it's even close, the fascists stay in power.
Obama just threw the first real sucker-punch of the election. To those DUers who've never been in a knock-down, drag-out bar fight, watch and learn.

9. Say you're an entry level employee at a large company.
You can talk about changing company policy all you want, but you're not changing shit where you are.

You want to eliminate nepotism and suck-up hires in the company? Then you're gonna have to kiss some ass yourself to get to the top.

10. Say you're running for president against a party that will do anything
to stay in power, and that represents only the interests of the very rich and big corporations while sending working-class Americans off to a desert to die for oil. Say the last two guy from your party to run were a real gentlemen, above the fray, couldn't get their hands dirty. Say you realized how important it was that the corrupt war-mongers not be allowed to stay in power. Say you realized this might be America's last chance to save the Bill of Rights and the Republic. Say you knew that in order to win you'd probably have to send out a surrogate or twelve to attack the other guy's war-hero persona, but because you had never been in the military you could never be personally associated with those attacks. What would you do?
