Dear,
Wes Clark was making a statement of fact, in reference to John Mccain. The facts are that being a POW does not provide one with command experience that is transferable to the job of the Presidency.
As a POW, John McCain is a hero for what he had to endure, but the experience itself did not give him executive command experience or teach him how to win a war and negotiate a peace.
Indeed it is the media who is swiftboating Gen. Wes Clark who was seriously wounded and nearly died during his sting in Vietnam and who is also a hero. Clark more than the media totally understands what sacrificing for our country means. Wes Clark remained in the Army and rose to the rank of 4 Star General. He negotiated a lasting peace in Bosnia (that has lasted over a decade), and won a war in Kosovo without a single American casualty.
As far as Barack Obama is concerned, he is not running on a platform of National security, but judgement, as evidenced by this correct assessment of what a bad strategy going into Iraq would be....a view he shares with Gen. Clark. Now that's more than can be said about John McCain.
The video when played in full makes it clear that Clark's comments were measured and accurate.
See here!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXOE0oGRNXA Far as I can see it, the Obama campaign wins because this issue is being debated as it should be;
Gen. Clark wins, because war winning 4 star generals always do, and John McCain loses because if he thought that his resume could never ever be discussed, he was wrong.
So why is the media treating McCain's service as a "Sacred Cow", but feel that it is ok to question Obama's patriotism each and every day and to call Clark raising a pertinent issue swiftboating? Too bad the media is not allowing the public to know exactly what Wes Clark's qualifications are that allows him to express his justifiable opinion about John McCain's resume.
Respectfully,
