That's the legacy of Vietnam.

How is that a "noble cause?"

1. I didn't do it.
REally,i was about 17 when it was over.I didn't really know the issues. As a kid i remember being totaly confused by the protests on the news.Someone burned himself alive, and i watched in horror.
I must admit i thought he was crazy. If i had been older...who knows what i would have thought.

2. Geez, if I took on
guilt for every horrific thing that has happened in the world that I had absolutely no control over I would be in a mental institution.

How would that help or change anything??

3. It is the responsibility of every American citizen.
Living in denial about what our country has done does not absolve us from that collective guilt. This is what inspires me to continue to work for substantive change.

4. It isn't
collective guilt that inspires me to work for change. Guilt is a useless emotion as far as I'm concerned.

I work for change because I know we can and must do better. It's not out of guilt but out of a postive vision for the future that keeps me going.

6. What a load.

The doctrine of collective responsibility is the single stupidest thing Liberal Groupthink espouses. It's not just wrong, and not just counterproductive... it's really embarrassing that anybody out of middle school believes this tripe.

People who kill are killers. Who who do not kill bear no responsiblity for the killers' actions.

Get. Over. Yourself.

7. "I didn't do anything" I just enjoy the fruits of exploitation.
People who buy the weapons for killers are accessories to murder.

Denial of personal responsibility doesn't make you blameless.

What are you doing to stop your tax dollars from commiting atrocities?

It's real mature to stick your head in the sand.

9. How can you type on a computer, chat in a forum, root for the Steelers,
own a car, own a house, eat food that creates waste, wear clothing, or do anything but live like a monk on a mountainside?

Mirror, find face.

12. It wasn't necessary to kill those people to allow me to do those things.

Vietnam was a useless war.

Accomplished nothing.

But it was done in my name.

Or at least that is the last refuge of the scoundrels who started it, prosecuted and are now trying to justify it.
