Georgia GOP in attack mode for Obama visit
Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's plane has not even entered Georgia airspace, but Republican on Monday went on the attack anyway.

Obama is scheduled to be in metro Atlanta tonight for two fundraisers and on Tuesday for a town hall meeting in Powder Springs, the heart of Georgia Republican territory.

The Democratic hopeful's plane was forced to make an unscheduled landing this morning in St. Louis because of maintenance issue, which will delay his arrival.

Republican U.S. Sens. Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson on Monday blasted Obama on taxes, the war on terror and oil prices during a conference call with reporters.

"Every time you turn around Barack Obama is not only talking about raising taxes .... he's voted to do that," Chambliss said.

Isakson said he thinks Obama is coming to Georgia -- a state that has a solid Republican track record in the last few election cycles -- because Democrats are having problems in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

"They would like nothing better to crack a Southern state," Isakson said. "And Georgia is one they would like to go after."

Isakson said he does not believe Georgia is in play. He cited a new Rasmussen poll released Monday that shows McCain with a 10-point lead. An InsiderAdvantage poll released Friday shows the race much tighter.

Chambliss complimented Obama on running a solid primary campaign and signing up legions of new voters. He said Republicans will now begin to remind their base — the most loyal GOP voters — how critical turnout will be in the November election.

2. I'm convinced! I blame all of mine and America's problems on Barack Obama.
Chambliss and Isakson have opened my eyes!

Relax, guys. Our Diebold machines will keep Georgia red...

...unless Barr sucks up too many Looneytarian leaning GOP votes.

oh please, oh please...

17. It's not a top tier paper, no. Nobody expects it to be.
They do some things decently (Jay Bookman and Cynthia Tucker are particularly steady, sane hands on the editorial board, and they help to keep the nutty rantings of Jim Wooten in perspective.)

16. I'm glad they shut it down.
I'm familiar with that particular shithole.

Yeah, a couple of idiots stuffed it full of junk copied from Freeperville.

What always made me laugh was how the online poll available to blog visitors ALWAYS (always! really!) showed a clear majority of visitors liked the current posted 'toon, and that the Freepers who left their shit in the Comments section were a clear minority.

I think they've shut it down, mostly, because nobody sensible would bother clicking on the "comments" link anyway.

9. They are panicking. Obama is almost tied with McCain in this traditionally red state
The closer he gets, the sharper the attacks will be; but they won't work, at all.

14. I'm jealous...wish I could go...please take pics and update us tomorrow.
It would be a dream come true if Obama could win GA. It seems that the Repubs here are quite nervous about Obama's chances. We've really got to GOTV in order to make GA a real possiblity for an Obama win in November.

Sending this from my blackberry. Hopped in line at 4:oo.
Some had been waiting since 2 for a prime seat. Great crowd -
very energized and "fired up". Lots and lots of
young college aged volunteers. Anticipation builds as we rock
to a bit of smokey robinson! I will try to get some good
images and upload later.

19. We'll need a powerful assist from Bob Barr
There are many stupid white people in Georgia, but they might be persuaded to throw away their vote on the Libber candidate.

18. Jim Wooten is whining about this.
His Thinking Reich column isn't online as I type this, but it should be when he finally gets out of bed and cranks up his Internets at around 8am...

http://www.ajc.com/opinion/content/shared-blogs/ajc/thinkingright/index.html

I'll paraphrase his column:

Barack Obama is NOT going to win here! you Demoncraps are LOOOOSERS!! White power!

22. Saxby "I Turned A War Hero Into A Terrorist Sympathizer
Even Though He Lost Three Fucking Limbs In Vietnam" Chambliss?

And Obama's coming to Georgia simply because he thinks he might win it if the cards fall right--they're imagining problems in PA, and who can tell what the fuck is with Ohio?
