That's what I feel is happening. Truth and facts are ignored. The corporate media tell their tales and move on. It doesn't seem to matter what we say or do?
Just as they distorted and lied about General Clark's remarks. They said he criticized the service of John McCain. That was a lie. And when Obama said that he still thought we could get the troops out of Iraq in 16 months, as he had said several times before, but that the policy may need to be refined once he talked to our commanders on the ground. They took the Republican talking points and ran with them. They accused Obama of flip-flopping on his Iraq position. Because once he is branded as a "flip-flopper", the game is over. He loses. He does not have the "character" to be President.
Obama is on the defensive and he will remain on the defensive so long as he has to respond to the charges of the McCain and the corporate media. He had to come out and clarify his position twice in one day on the Iraq withdrawal issue. Today, he finds himself clarifying his position on taxes. He says he will not raise taxes on those making less than $250,000 dollars.
The first debate is 2 1/2 months from now. I can imagine the damage that will be done by then by the corporate media if the present strategy continues. It is not possible to be on the defensive everyday and trying to explain your positions without losing some credibility and support. I do not know the answer.
But, I feel like I am being pulled by a huge magnet. I have no control over what I think or do. The propagandists will decide that for me. It would not be wise to attack John McCain, or so they say. He is untouchable. It would not be wise to point out his deficiencies. Or so they say...
