New York Times Takes On McCain's Economic Hokum

New York Times Takes On McCain's Economic Hokum

By Greg Sargent - July 8, 2008, 10:09AM

Here at TPM we've been http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/203019.php">asking whether the national political press will take on John McCain over his economic hocus-pocus, such as his "plan" to balance the budget by 2013.

Well, today's New York Times comes through today with a double-barreled shot at McCain, publishing http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/08/us/politics/08econ.html?ref=politics">one piece pointing out that McCain's economic policies have slithered all over the ideological map, and a http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/08/us/politics/08budget.html?ref=politics">second piece noting that his balanced-budget promise is, well, complete horse-bleep.

The pieces are written in polite Times-speak, but they make the point pretty effectively. Too bad neither one is on the paper's front page, but we'll take what we can get.

1. I just cancelled my subscription. Way too little too late
as far as I'm concerned. And too damned many hit pieces on Obama.

Nice that they finally took a shot at McNutty but hell, it almost wrote itself. Not like they had to do much to figure out his "policy" is crap.

2. I canceled my subscription back when Judith Miller was enabling the
bushes unprovoked attack on Iraq.
