ABC "News" Teams Up With Drudge to Smear Obama Again -- Insinuating He's Using His Kids as Props
Drudge and ABC are making hay of Access Hollywood's interview of the Obama family. Drudge's headline: "Obama Allows Interview with Daughters Ages 10 & 7..." ABC's equally insidious headline: "Democratic Candidate Allows Entertainment Program to Talk with Young Daughters"

From the story: "What do Angelina Jolie's pregnancy, Alex Rodriguez's love life, and Barack Obama have in common? Not much until now. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., appears in a sit-down interview with his wife Michelle and daughters Tuesday on "Access Hollywood," a nightly entertainment news program that's more apt to focus on the tawdry tales of Hollywood than the inner workings of Washington. . . .

Children of presidential contenders have been often used in presidential campaign politics, often trotted out at victory rallies and posing for family photos, but the balance between the public spotlight and private life can be tricky.

Chelsea Clinton, at 28, is more than 20 years older than the eldest Obama daughter, but never granted an interview despite being a near constant presence on the campaign trail.

She even refused an interview during the primary season from a Scholastic News 'kid reporter.'...."

So now, in its latest baseless attack against Obama, ABC paints him as a craven opportunist who will sell out his children's innocence for a chance at the White House. Never mind that the questions never got more biting than "How would you decorate your room in the White House?" ABC is quietly overtaking Fox as the lead man for the right-wing smear machine.

I know we're not supposed to post articles from right-wing web sites, and this trash certainly isn't worth reading, but if you want to piss yourself off here you go:

5. The thing is, no one wants to see McSame's kids. This just indicates
to me they got nothin'! if that's all they have to talk about. That or they're too bloody lazy to do some actual reporting. If they're using Drudge for ideas, they have problems.

2. For anyone who doesn't believe ABC has become a right wing smear machine
I refer you to this: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x144003

That's evidence enough for me on top of the latest headline presented in the OP. Not to mention the Path To 9/11 "documentary".

6. ABC loves those who love corporations...not too surprising.
That they'll smear Obama just makes me love him more.

It reminds me of that awful debate, and it reinforced my already firm choice between the two remaining candidates.

If they love one candidate over another, there are only two reasons:

1. Ratings (money)

2. Their parent corporation has a stake in who wins (also money)

It's pretty simple.

10. And the Compassion Forum?
He showed plenty of class, passing on opportunities to push Tuzla or other problems while Hillary jumped an every opportunity (Farrakhan).

compassion, yea, right.

8. Sounds like ABC "News" is still daydreaming about the primary days

"The Obama campaign said they became so comfortable that they decided to join the interview, which the Obama campaign characterizes as a whim."

So what exactly is there to report? The kids said they want to talk to this woman, and the parents allowed it.... EVIL!!!

Hah and I noticed once again, I go to ABC News and one of the featured videos coming up is an Elisabeth Hasselbeck rant. Who gives a crap.

9. It sounds like it wasn't planned.
"But it does mark the first time the entire Obama family -- including daughters Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7 -- sit down for a family interview, though the Obama campaign insists it wasn't planned that way.

Public Figures, Private Lives
The interview, taped on the Fourth of July while the family vacationed in Butte, Mont., was far from the prying eyes of the horde of journalists that trail Obama everyday during the campaign but it does raise the public profile of Obama's young children.

-snip-
The Obamas have largely shielded their daughters from the national media spotlight to-date and the campaign said the girls were eager to talk to entertainment reporter Maria Menounos and her boyfriend because she had recently interviewed the Jonas Brothers, a teen pop band.

The Obama campaign said they became so comfortable that they decided to join the interview, which the Obama campaign characterizes as a whim. "

11. Good grief! Obama and
his family are a breath of fresh air. They actually know how to be a family. Does ABC expect them to reply to engraved invitations at a soiree for ABC nutjobs? Sour grapes!

14. America gets to choose: will it side with the proud father
of beautiful daughters--whom he kept off the campaign trail as much as he could until they finished the school year--or a corporation? Especially when they see the genuine affection his daughters have for him, it will be no contest.

I've heard Drudge referred to as "the most influential journalist in the world". How about the sleaziest gossip-monger in the universe?
