Obama moving to the WHAT?
Edited on Tue Jul-08-08 09:27 PM by lynyrd_skynyrd
That media sure does love to manipulate language.

This is what I've read, seen, and heard in the media over the last few days:

- He will not pull troops out of Iraq.
- He supports the NRA position of guns
- He is OK with the death penalty for rapists
- He supports telecom immunity

And the media says that Obama is angering his "liberal left base" by "moving to the center"

Excuse me, but since when are the above four things anywhere near the center?

Not pulling troops out of Iraq, not supporting gun control, condoning capital punishment in all cases, and supporting warrantless wiretapping are RIGHT WING POSITIONS, not "moderate", not "centrist". RIGHT WING.

I'm tired of how easily Americans fall for this garbage. In Italy, Germany, The UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands, Finland, Iceland, Japan, Australia, Canada, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Ireland, and Norway, a man like Dennis Kucinich would be labeled "centrist", or "moderate".

America has become such a neo conservative fascism that extreme right wing positions are seen as "the center". It's sickening.

1. Well, every bullet point you list is a lie.
- He will not pull troops out of Iraq.

He's refuted this lie over the last few days infinite amount of times

- He supports the NRA position of guns

Um no, he supported a SC decision in one case. Ask Obama if he is behind the NRA in their lawsuit to allow guns in Atlanta International Airport.

- He is OK with the death penalty for rapists

Ooops my bad, there is one that's true.

- He supports telecom immunity

No he doesn't. He has never said anything other than he opposes telecom immunity. He says he will work with Dodd and others to remove telecom immunity from the bill. But if that fails, he will support the bill because he claims the need for it is the bigger issue. Disagree with him all you want, but saying he "supports" telecom immunity is a lie.

2. Actually
I think he only supports the death penalty in the case of child rapists.
