McCain and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
For some reason, this story just sticks with me. Rachel Maddow reported on it last night.

John McCain, while talking about being questioned by the North Vietnamese after his capture, said that when asked asked about the names of his fellow crewmen that he gave the names of the Steelers defensive line. Except that, when he was captured, the Pittsburgh Steelers had not yet won their world championships and were not household names. Maybe he meant the Green Bay Packers?

In his book, he had told the same story but the team was the Packers - not the Steelers. And the names were different. Does it matter? After all, we all sometimes forget important events or say the wrong name when talking about someone. But several names, on an entirely different team? Why do I find this so disturbing?

What will he forget if he is President? How can we trust someone that can lie with such magnitude? This isn't "straight talk" - this is bullshit. Does anyone else find this totally unacceptable and why?

1. He is a World Class Liar.
He is a bigger liar than chimpy, and that should frighten all Americans.

He does it so regularly, with such disregard, I am not sure he even knows thruths anymore.

3. From a completely objective stance ...
If I wasn't progressive in nature, I would vote for BO over McCain based simply on intellectual capacity ... BO is INFINITELY more intellectually capable at this point, and I have been saying since McCain was the nominee, in as politically correct manner as I can, that with his age, his mental capacities will continue to deteriorate with each day ...

It just makes no sense to have the most powerful man on the planet be intellectually impaired ...

But, the last week or so have really pushed me to another level in regard to McCain's BASE functioning ... At least a half dozen reported incidents where he just flat out was not dealing in reality ...

A campaign is very demanding and stressful, and brings out the flaw in candidates ... We are still four months out from the election and McCain is deteriorating exponentially ...

4. The Presidency and the race for the Presidency ages a man quickly...
Obama has already found some gray hairs. McCain, unfortunately, cannot afford to age any more quickly or he will have no age left...

5. Reagan was not of sound mind during his presidency.
I'm sure the Alzheimers set in well before he retired and the people around him must have known it. We deserve someone who is playing with a full deck.

6. I agree...
But Reagan's reading and acting skills helped him a lot, even while he was suffering from the disease, in my opinion. It's disturbing that America would even consider such a liability.

7. That's the problem withlying in the first place
You tellso many lies, you can't remember them all, and wind up screwing up. He probably made the whole thing up, which is why he can't keep it straight.
