Hillary Clinton asks American Federation of Teachers to back Obama
http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/obama/1052949,camp071208.article

July 12, 2008

FROM THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Hillary Rodham Clinton urged thousands of teachers gathered in Chicago today to elect Sen. Barack Obama president.

The New York senator and former Obama rival spoke at the American Federation of Teachers’ national convention, held at Navy Pier.

The teachers union is expected to endorse Obama on Sunday, when the Illinois senator plans to address the convention by satellite video.

Clinton thanked the teachers union for its earlier support before she suspended her campaign last month and asked the group to help make November ‘‘the watershed election it deserves to be.’’

1. He addressed the NEA by satellite too

So I guess it's only fair.

Seems odd though. I am an AFT member and can well remember when our Democratic presidential candidates addressed our conventions in person.

2. Wrong. Obama addresses AFT tomorrow

He's going to be addressing the National Council of La Raza Annual Conference in San Diego tomorrow.

Logistically, it's impossible to attend both events that are within two hours apart.

3. Sorry if you missed my point
I also just corrected my typo. Meant to say "NEA", not NRA.
