Ever seen a Silver Star?
My brother makes an effective argument about the Shifty-boats. He asks people if they had ever seen a Silver Star medal. Most say no. (Our grandfather actually did get one for his service in WW1).

The point being is that they are rare. Yes bronze medals are given with a bit more frequency but it takes a rare and heroic act to merit a Silver Star.

a Silver Star and a Purple Heart. He is a Korean War veteran. He fought at the Chosin Reservoir. Known as one of the Chosin Few...he survived the walk to Hagaru.

2. I like that. Wish I had thought of it the other day
when some RW disruptor was crashing a Vets for Kerry event & arguing with the vets about the Smearboat stuff.

3. don't forget, the vetting process before a Silver Star is awarded is long
and arduous.

Only true war heroes get this medal.

4. My dad had one
I read the citation for it. Apparently, dad ran up a hill toward a German machine gun nest while it was blazing away at his men below. He lobbed a grenade through the slot, kicked in the door on the side of the bunker, and shot everything inside that moved.

Not surprisingly, I never got this story directly from the old guy. I'm sure it was absolutely necessary at the time, but it wasn't something he cared to talk about much later.

5. I am so angry about this I could spit
My father was awarded two silver stars, a bronze star and a purple heart for actions both at DDay and the Battle of the Bulge. I was always so proud of him. I grew up in a military family and everyone in the service knew that a Silver Star was not handed out like candy but earned with genuine courage and initiative under fire. To have these creatures engage in this smear campaign is disgusting beyond words.
