News 8 Austin video...TX GOP furious about Dean being there in TX.
This is a video clip of some of Dean's comments about noon today in Austin at Netroots Nation. The Republican they chose to rebut the situation really sounds downright insulted at any claims that TX might go purple.

Here is the video:

New 8 Austin video clip of Dean at Netroots Nation

Here is an article about it.

Dean spreads voting message

Austin was Dean's second stop of the day; Crawford was his first. Despite the proximity to Bush's ranch home, Dean said many there are ready for change.

"The only thing they may not like is that the Bush ranch is going to be a retirement home for President Bush and Dick Cheney and John McCain and all these people on the right," Dean said.

..."Texas Republicans thought Dean may make a comment like this one.

They released a statement this week about his "divisive rhetoric" that they said will not resonate with Texans. The Republican Party of Texas' Hans Klingler said Texas will continue to be a red state.

"The Democrats' dream of turning this state even remotely purple is just that – it's a pipe dream," he said.

That Republican looked very cross about the whole situation. He believes Texas belongs to Republicans, I think.

He recommends that when ""When Howard Dean goes door-to-door in the state of Texas, I challenge them to meet him with a door slam or an, 'I'm not interested.' "

1. "Texas is staying red because we say so," the disgusted little man
from the RNC said, stamping his feet and puffing out his chest..

I hope to heck it doesn't work out that way.

14. He did sound all puffed up.
Like he could not believe Dean went there and spoke of possible change.

Arrogant little man, that Republican. Thinks TX belongs to them.

24. I have to wonder......
Before Dean's 50 state policy, the GOP got used to having states ceded to them as little fiefdoms. And as a result, the GOP zampolits in those states got used to not having anyone contest them.

Now they're being challenged, and I wonder if they're acting this way because they don't know how to cope with it?

18. World's Biggest Entitlement Program.
It's not welfare. It's not Social Security. It's not Medicare or Medicaid. Not food stamps. Not subsidies of any kind.

It's the attitude of republi-CONS that they're simply ENTITLED to power. They're simply ENTITLED to rule. They're ENTITLED to own the White House. It's their self-proclaimed "Divine Right."

To which I say

BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

30. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing they're entitled to is time served in A) the wilderness,
OUT of power, and/or B) time behind bars. Both would be good.

31. Yeah. They THINK.
Not part of the reality-based community here, though. And hopefully they'll find that out the hard way in November.

Civilized societies slap their hands, but we've lost that whole civil thing lately.

3. Texas repukes have no room to talk
about Divisiveness. The republicons didn't treat Texas very well or the Nation so they can't really whine about the Democrats wanting to do something better for our country.

8. Soon we shall see checkpoints at the Texas border...
...on highways 10, 40, 35, 44, 30 and 20 checking for Republican credentials...if not you'll be turned away. Further checks are being set up at Dallas/Fort Worth and all airports in the state.

Klingler is currently reviewing plans of how to handle the Democrats currently residing within "his" state. Extradition and/or deportation is not off the table. Water-boarding?

Turn Texas purple...shading to blue? Pipe dream?

Texas is "Bush Country." For shame, for shame. Texans should be ashamed of that. That they've begot and should be ripe for restitution.

"It is all very well," said the Monkey, "to laugh at my offspring, but you go into any gallery of antique sculpture and look at the statues and busts of the fellows that you begot yourself." Aesop Fables

9. Your post describes that arrogant Klingler very well.
He really was indignant that a Dem would come there and be outspoken.

Wayne Slater of "Bush's Brain" did some good write-up of this today.

Welcome to Crawford, Howard Dean....from Wayne Slater's blog.

In the comments I posted words from Slater that there was a fight in Crawford just as the bus pulled away.

"As the bus pulled away, Ms. Barton, the Republican, and John Hampton of Waco, a staunch Democrat, got into an argument over whether Mr. Obama is a Muslim.

“His mother is a Christian,” said Mr. Hampton.

“Don’t attack me. I’m not your enemy, Obama’s your enemy,” said Ms. Barton.

The squabble escalated. He chided her for “saying those dumb things” and she countered with, “Who are you the authority of? You don’t know what you think you know.”

The bus was gone by now, carrying Mr. Dean and the message about how Mr. Obama would bring us together. But not here, not yet."

21. I don't think he'll leave Texas but
the Crawford ranch has fulfilled its purpose and I am willing to bet will be sold soon after 1/09. He'll move to the city. That ranch was never anything more than a prop to him and his moronic supporters ate it up.

but Austin I think is very blue. Dean would get a few slammed doors, but probably more invites to stop for sweet ice tea and doughnuts.

Bush exemplifies the mentality of conservatives. They think they can tell others where to appear and when.
On the good side, there's only 3 or 4 months left of this Bs.
