What are your thoughts on Obama going to Afghanistan?
In my opinion, Afghanistan is presently a more dangerous place than Iraq. Is it a gamble for him to go into that country? There's a reason John McCain has not been there for 2 years - it is too dangerous. What is your opinion? Do you think the political reward is worth the gamble? Or do you think it is safe to fly into Afghanistan?

1. I hate like hell to say this...
... but I'm more worried when he's out in public stateside. Just can't shake that feeling.

2. It's not safe and that's
why we need to pull out of there ASAP! Afghanistan wil become Obama's failed war if we don't pull out of there.

4. Obama seems to be quite the warmonger when it comes to that region
"The greatest threat to that security lies in the tribal regions of Pakistan, where terrorists train and insurgents strike into Afghanistan. We cannot tolerate a terrorist sanctuary, and as President, I won’t. We need a stronger and sustained partnership between Afghanistan, Pakistan and NATO to secure the border, to take out terrorist camps, and to crack down on cross-border insurgents."

"We need more troops, more helicopters, more satellites, more Predator drones in the Afghan border region. And we must make it clear that if Pakistan cannot or will not act, we will take out high-level terrorist targets like bin Laden if we have them in our sights."

From his "Iraq speech"...

"Poppies for peace" - that would be my solution to that mess.

3. as the idiot Conan OBrian said, "he'll finally get to meet other people named Barack Obama"
and this schmuck is going to take over for Leno? He'll tank and be out of a job. Stoners and insomniacs are the only people who find him funny.

I think he'll be a welcomed change from the mental midgets that have represented the US abroad. I bet they'll welcome him when he becomes president.

6. America is not safe and he is here all the time

Do I think he should go ~ NO, but that's just protective motherly me talking.

He is a brave man of character and substance and that is something that we have not been viewing in the last 8 years.

He is a child of the World, not just America. He is the first President to my knowledge that has grown up in an environment that values all people of all colors and all places.

Refreshing to see a leader that is not afraid of people that are anything other than "Amerikans."

I pray for his safety every night and every day.

7. As Obama has said, "I don't do cowering".
If a man wants to be the leader of this country he should at least have the courage to visit a country to where he will be sending troops to fight and die. Obama is not going to the front lines and I am sure our troops there will respect him for coming.

I have a 19 year old godson who just arrived in Afghanistan this week and got sent to the Korengal Valley, that hellhole on the Pakistan border where we lost 9 soldiers last week. There's nothing like having someone that you love and that you've watched grow up since a little boy be put in the harm's way of war to focus your concern.
