If Obama picks Kaine for VP, would that confuse some of the dittoheads voting for McCain?

The similarity between Kaine and McCain could possibly trick some of the "low information voters" into voting Dem this year if they're not paying attention. Some of the more seasoned dittoheads might get confused.

There was a strange percentage of punch card double votes in Florida 2000, Gore with the Libertarian candidate. It didn't seem to be caused by butterfly ballot confusion. These were in other counties, with two pages of presidential choices due to 10 names on the ballot, but not butterfly.

An election expert was asked to analyze and his conclusion was the low information voters saw the phrase, "Vote for Group," and thought they had to vote twice, for president and VP. Since Libertarian was close to Lieberman, they double punched the Libertarian candidate and thus voided their original vote for Gore. That accounted for many times the 500-odd votes that Gore "lost" by.

Last year in NJ-03, Republican Rep. Saxton was being challenged by a Democrat named Sexton. I was hoping the confusion might result in a surprise Democratic victory, but Saxton's campaign was clever: they made their slogan "sAxton gets an A". Gotta give them credit for ingenuity. But that was much more confusing than Obama/Kaine v. McCain/Other Nutcase Republican
