7. It's the new narrative pushed by the right. The media isn't playing fair. Look at Ras.and Drudge
today. It's all about McCain being a victim of the media who loves Obama so you should choose McCain. Hurl.

5. I'm Surprised - Thought Polls Would Narrow Due to McCain's Heavy Spending
I expected the polls to narrow a bit because John McCain is blowing through his primary cash as fast as possible. Indeed, the concern is whether Obama should spend more money, rather than horde it for the post-convention campaign. It might still be debatable, and some folks could argue that Obama should spend heavily right now to try to put McCain away early. However, Obama apparently does not see the possibility for an early knock out blow, and is trying to focus on the months leading up to the election when Big Media goes after him hard, particularly Fox and ABC.

8. For it to jump like that,
I think Obama had to beat him by double digits last night. If this holds up, it means that he has crossed the commander in chief threshold, and it's over.

9. I think it's just a lot of noise
people are getting jumpy over all these fluctuations. The average across polls remains remarkably stable.

10. Kick for bounce.
:kick:

These results are based on July 18-20 polling, including two days since Obama began his much publicized overseas trip to visit the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Europe. It is unclear at this point whether the trip will boost Obama's poll standing, but his performance in Sunday interviewing was one of his stronger in Gallup Poll Daily tracking, and his current six percentage point lead is among the largest he has held over McCain to date. Tuesday's Gallup Poll Daily tracking report will be the first in which all interviews were conducted since Obama began his trip abroad.

Since Obama clinched the Democratic presidential nomination in early June, he has typically held an advantage over McCain, which has averaged three points, but been as large as seven points.

The current results also mark the first time in more than three weeks that McCain's share of the trial heat vote has not been in the 42% to 44% range. In fact, it matches a June 7-9 reading as McCain's lowest level of support since Gallup began tracking general election preferences in March.
