John McCain: When all else fails, blame the black guy

Adwatch: McCain ad blames Obama for gas price hike

TITLE: "Pump."

SCRIPT: Announcer: "Gas prices � $4, $5, no end in sight, because some in Washington are still saying no to drilling in America. No to independence from foreign oil. Who can you thank for rising prices at the pump?"

Crowd chanting: "Obama, Obama, Obama!"

KEY IMAGES: A lonely gas pump with heat waves rising around it. A pump's price readout rolls over to $5. At first indiscernible, background chanting grows louder. A smiling Obama appears on the screen with a pump rising over his right shoulder. It is now clear that the chants are a pro-Obama crowd: "Obama, Obama, Obama!" The screen goes dark. A clip appears of McCain speaking to a crowd, replaced by a still shot of McCain against a blue backdrop.

ANALYSIS: This ad is the latest tit-for-tat commercial over energy in the presidential campaign. Earlier this month, an Obama ad accused McCain of being "part of the problem" of high gas prices. This one flat out blames Obama.

1. I think Obama or the Democratic Party need

to put out an ad telling the public that drilling in America doesn't mean the American people get free oil!!!
Gawd people are soooo stupid.
The ads and talking heads on our side need to stop saying that we need to "break our dependency on oil..or worse "on foreign oil"...or that we need to develop alternative energy (even though that's true). They need to drill (no pun intended) home the fact that no matter where the oil comes from, it goes on the world market. That whatever oil company gets it isn't going to give it to us for free.

We need to start talking to the "low information voter" in terms they can understand.

And you know his operatives are probably distributing those "Drill Now, Drill Here, Pay Less" bumper stickers in those states, too.

All we have to do is get rid of the Enron Loophole and end speculation on energy prices and we'll start making a dent in fuel prices.

3. That's why someone needs to start getting the word out

about how stupid that "drill now, drill here, pay less" line is. It's obvious the MSM won't do it so the party needs to. McCain plans to make this a huge issue and we need to start fighting back in very plain language. We need to make that bumper sticker about as believable as "The Moon is made of green cheese".

about 65 percent of the country thinks if we were drilling in ANWR and offshore..that we'd pay less for gas.
